2 Brushless 1 Esc

Is it safe to connect two brushless motors, each rated 23 Amps(max), to a 50 Amps ESC?

We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

If you are using a 50 Amp ESC, I suggest that your 2 motors should each be rated around 15 Amps each. Thumb rule for connecting a motor (afaik) is that the amperage of the BLM multiplied by 1.5 should be close to the amperage of the ESC. For example, on a motor rated at 15A, we should use an ESC rated at atleast 22.5A (25A to be reasonably safe). Therefore, for two motors rated at 23A each (Total 46A), we should atleast use an ESC rated at 69A. Get hold of a 75 - 80A ESC to be reasonably safe. Note - this is just a thumb rule and I did mention 'reasonably' safe.

I've used the same principle for brushed motors - so far so good.

Two Motors with one ESC...

It could not work as the ESC uses signals (back EMF of motor) to determine the position of rotor and so which coil to power up. Two motors connected together with an ESC will mess things up. But it is worth a try with Same Brand/Version/Rivision motors with same load and trying to position the rotor in similar positions at start up. I personally won't prefer to do it unless I really have to, as whatever precautions you take, Something may go wrong.

As I had said : "I've used the same principle for brushed motors - so far so good." If memory serves me right, I used the same principle to drive 2 identical brushless motors on the Griffon 8100 Hovercraft. Need to check out that old thread before I can confirm this.

Hi,

VC sir's Configuration regarding choice of ESC current rating mentioned above is undeniably healthy. In fact I have tried it myself with a 70 A Red brick ESC and each motor current to be 24 A (max). I am embedding the following video which will help you to understand in a better way. This concept is great for World War planes with 4 or 6 motors (2 or 3 on either side of the wings) which reduces number of channel usage in radio and also simplifies the operation. The motors connected with one ESC runs in a synchronised manner.
