I have a BL outrunner with a 6mm threaded shaft that is a part of the body of the motor (shaft cannot be replaced)
the shaft is too small (length of the shaft is less than the height of the central cylindrical portion of the prop)

is it advisable to use a collet type prop adapter on the threaded shaft with something like teflon tape or heat shrink tubing to cover the threads before compressing the collet ..??

Can you please post a picture of that motor.. Or any links..
it may be having a spcl prop adapter for attaching directly to the body..

This motor has an inbuilt prop adapter... you just insert the prop and tight the bullet shape nut coming with the motor...
That's it.. or if you miss that nut try buying a 6mm nut from local hardware shop..
That's it...

The prop should be press fit on to the un-threaded portion of the shaft(After rimming out the prop hole). A suitable nut for the thread should then be tightened on to the shaft.

Or buy dji props to fit perfectly...
Rcbazaar followed the dji motor model... :)

after drilling out the prop hole the nut on the top wont even spin half a revolution to completely tighten ..
do u guys think approx 1/4th revolution is enough to keep a prop against 1kg thrust ??

Spark you are using the wrong props I guess... try using the props which are for quads for example from quadkopters.com
It will fit perfectly.. dji props will also fine but costly
