No, not acetylene. It is inflammable. So is Hydrogen. Should use Helium only. I have seen these in action in Australia. The cylinders are available there in hobby shops. Here in India, the local balloon-walaah should help. It is costly, though. Gas escapes easily and needs repeated inflation, making the maintenance costly.
