Will arrange for it immediately. Extremely sorry for the inconvenience. I have received similar complaints from others (missing dihedrals) and am taking it up with my supplier. In future i will have to check each and every individual kit.

Regrets and Regards,

VC

Hey VC this brings back memories from when I learnt Aeromodelling ( 80s). Back then a Calcutta based company called Aurora used to make these and other bigger balsa wood kits. I wonder if the company still exists
Just for trivia , the names they had for these models :-
auster - gnat
boreas - hunter
Eurus - Yellow bird
They also made some excellent towline and RC models , I remember we made a polyhedral glider with a wing span of about 5 feet. Wonder if anyone has access to this company or the blue prints.

Viksi,
All of them are still available and the company is still in existance (not in thier former glory though).
Was that 60 inch span polyhedral towline? Was it Inchwarm/Lamoutte/Lucifer?
If you are really into scale you should be here. www.rcscalebuilder.com

viksi

Lucifer rings a bell :) Just the cockpit of the thing weighed about kilo.

Does Aurora have a website or dealers around Delhi ?

flyingboxcar

Lucifer cockpit? No the model did not have a cockpit, I am talking of Lucifer the towline glider. One distinguishing mark of the design was geodetic tailplane constructions.
I do not think you can get Aurora models in Delhi, Kolkatta is the only place today

Yep Aurora models sold by India's Hobby Centre, Kolkata.

By cockpit i meant the nose. The cg of the thing was way front and the heavy nose was used to counter the rest of the body.

We used to have an India's hobby center in Connaught place, Delhi when i was a kid. And the guy was awesome. He would throw in some extra balsa and laquer every time we bought the kits. do the aurora guys / IHC have a website. ?

Nope, they don't. They are busy selling Ice Cream and fleecing young kids by selling Chuck Gliders made out of Japonica for 300 bucks. Shame!

they came to our college and gave out 21cms gliders at the cost of 300 rs per group...(onw glider per group of 3)
and then i came across this forum , thanks to rohit , and realised how casually are they cheating on people and bringing shame to this beautiful hobby...:(

ankitbaid

by shame to hobby , i only mean how first timers may misinterpret the people associated with this hobby...no offense intended

rohitgupta322

Really shameful and VC bhaiya to add to that they sold a Deans connector to me for Rs 150 and there is much more to add to this which i don't want to elaborate. As truly pointed out by Rajib bhaiya, if you want to stay in this hobby then stay away from IHC.

"if you want to stay in this hobby then stay away from IHC."

How sad, how very sad but true. 25 years ago I would have said, "If you want to get into aeromodelling, go to India Hobby Centre and meet Tapan. He will take care of everything."

how the mighty have fallen. It is indeed a pity considering everything i learnt in aeromodelling came from IHC, cp. (and bal bhawan , new delhi )

Deans connector @ Rs.150/- ?! Wow, that is cheap compared to some others who sell it on the net for Rs. 225/- + 30 = Rs.255/- per set  :giggle:

Yet again, check this link, it is /will soon be available for Rs.39.60.

I have no idea. In the good old days, the gliders that I bought smelt different. The gliders that I sell do not smell the same. I guess, they are also not true balsa. Could be Japonica or something else - they are certainly NOT Imported Balsa! But then, my giders cost Rs.60/- (for a 21cm wingspan) as compared to Rs. 300/- sold by IHC.

I hope you get my drift................!

Rajib

Let's not talk about IHC, they are dangerous for any newbie, sorry but this is truth. I was not asking about cost of the glider, I was just trying knowing source of your balsa wood. I was checking import of balsa from April 2010 to October 2010 and the data shocking, people are importing so much foreign balsa in India but then why no one has enough stock, if demand of balsa is so much then what people are doing with so much balsa, VC if you're importing so much balsa then don't keep it secret, give me some ;D
