A quick question.
Can one convert these babies into electric?
OR
are they too small ?
Ujjwaana - blocked one for you. Thanks!
Controllflyer - Wouldn't like to sound authoritative and pass judgment on the subject (as I have little knowledge) but it seems possible that they can be converted to electric easily. Dimensions are given, please draw your own conclusions. ;)

Maharana Sir, which particular model do you want? Do you want the winder also?
Besides selling these it would be great to also post flying technique, how to launch, how to experiment to get longer flight times. Also, how to convert to RC.

Maharana, which model would you prefer?
vc, how is the construction as per you? Could they stand a few harsh landings?
The models are light, so harsh landings won't have a big impact on them, I guess.
B2 X 1 for me VC, see if you can ship mine and ujjwal's together to save on shipping. ;)
This baby will go electric for sure.
Vinay, done! I will see what I can do to save on shipping costs and refund the balance.
Looks like VC got lot of honey to trap flies.
It is intersting to know that there exist a band of brothers who is ready get indulged in chuck gliders. Wave of "chuck revolution" has started.
VC, are these foam peices or balsa
Free flight is still a pursued arm of this hobby very much. So, making one RC or even learning how to launch and keep a model airborne is something to learn
Chuck gliders? Myself and ujwaana are are already thinking of what motor prop to put. I will make this plane a aileron, elevator version using 2 5 g Servos :giggle:
Hope it works out, If it dosent, I will give it to my younger cousins to play with ;D It would be up to them to test the durability.
'Honey to trap flies'. I guess one could call it that. The amount of effort it takes me to collect the correct 'Honey' needs to be taken into consideration. It's no sweat off my back to buy stuff from elsewhere and mark up the prices by 300% and sell them. Many people are doing that and so could I. However, I have a different mission - offer something that is affordable and get the youngsters interested. If 10 of them buy a model each, 7 of them will destroy their models and that will be the end of their 'aeromodelling' days. Just 3 of them will want to make/fly a bigger model as they grow. Those 3 are precious!
I have dreamt of this effort for a long long time now, didn't have the time to pursue it. I am on a sabbatical from work now and am finally being able to do what I really wanted to do in life. It remains to be seen if I can sustain the effort.
I am grateful to this forum and it's members for their support, tolerance, guidance and care.
Dreamliner, to answer your question - they are of foam, cardboard, wood and plastic construction.

Good news! The retailer has allowed me to keep the stocks for 2 more days and has found some new models from his inventory.
These are BIG chuck/catapult gliders - 430 mm (17 inch) + wingspans.
Priced at Rs. 800/- each inclusive of shipping. Only 5 pieces of each model available as of now.

VC,
Let me know what is left of these. I would pick up one of each
Flyingboxcar, thanks. The retailer that I am procuring these models from has sufficient stocks but is not willing to divulge the exact amounts. He pretends to be totally disinterested in the models and wants to return all unsold stock to his supplier, rather than hold them for me. Perhaps that is his way of putting pressure on me to keep sales moving! Let me know what you want and I will block them for you.

Hi VC, Just received the parcel, Here are the observations. I was shocked when I saw the size of the box. I was expecting it to be big. Anyways....
Pic 1) The box was slightly deformed. The courier guy told me that he put this box on the cycle carrier :banghead:. He said if we want the stuff to be in better shape then use hard box or we need to use a better courier like blue dart or DTDC blue or something like that. I have no complain here as we are still learning what courier is better and what are not. :(
Pic 2)All the planes in almost safe condition, though I could see that the 2 of the wings have slight dent, but cant hope for more with such courier / Non hard box. I still havent inspected all the planes closely yet.
Pic 3)The Wingspan of the planes are just 300 mm against as shown in the pic which says 480 mm for B series >:(. Were you confused? These are useless for us and the thickness of wing is barely 0.5 to 0.75 mm. Definitely does not look like one in the Series B.jpg or B2.jpg.
Pic 4) Plane is pretty small, holding it in my hand for comparision. I cant even think of putting a 150 mah lipo on it forget motor esc and RX(even a micro assan). :(
VC I am (we may) be OK with points 1 and 2. What do we do about 3 and 4. Please tell us. :headscratch:
With a 300mm Wingspan against 480mm as advertised and material so inferior and fragile, I guess the only use would be for Static display. I even suspect one can put the 1-gram servos at all.
With the actual size of the plane, its not much of any use to serious R/C enthusiast and find price of 650 not fair. I saw a similar size plane being sold by New India Models, ISRO layout, Bangalore and the price was Rs 150.
I guess VC's supplier messed up with the shipment and sent us wrong product.
Hmm 300mm... is way too small for a 480mm wingspan.
Yeah, may be wrong product shipped.
??? :headscratch:
How do we go about this VC?
Firstly, my apologies.
Point 3. I was misled by the supplier, who gave me the details of the website and left me to figure it out for myself. he was most unhelpful in supplying details of the products. However, since I took the responsibility of posting it on the forum, I should have checked thoroughly. It is my fault.
Point 4. I understand the situation. if you want a refund of your money, I will arrange it. Please let me know.
I had taken a lot of pain to have the stuff securely packed and had marked it FRAGILE in many places on the package and it WAS sent by DTDC. The DTDC Blue is a much more expensive proposition.
This entire deal, due to my scant business knowledge, has been a complete loss. I was informed that my entire consignment shipped to Guwahati would cost around Rs.500/-. based upon that I confirmed the deal and transferred the money to him. He then called me a couple of days later and told me that I would have to pay him another Rs.3200/- as the consignment was attracting volumetric weight! At that instant I knew that I was stuck in a bad deal. He had my money and there was nothing I could do about it. I paid the 3200/- went ahead with the deal, only because I had committed to the members of the forum, knowing fully well that I was incurring a loss.
VC, first of all let me tell you that I did not type the previous message with anger or hatredness. The head banging smiley is a bit too harsh looking I guess ;D.
I/WE understand you are doing more than anyone else to promote this hobby. BTW Drone said he will send you a PM on what to do. I will follow up with him.
I understand mistakes happen as nobody is perfect or we are out of luck sometimes
Cheers! Vinay. :)
I have sent an individual PM to each one who has purchased these gliders. Please let me know what needs to be done to rectify the situation and it shall be done as far as possible. I have had a word with the supplier, who callously informed me that there is nothing that he could do, so I am left holding the baby.
I am so very sorry for what has happened.
Thank you for your kindness.
As requested by Vinay, Drone and Ujjwaana, I will refund their entire amounts.
Thanks VC. Since tom is Sunday and couriers closed, I will at the max ship back the items by Tuesday.
hmmmm things are not going good......

At the very outset, I would like to clarify that this post is not to justify anything or offer excuses. It is being written as a reality check and as a caution to all future Buyers and Sellers, so that they don't feel cheated or suffer embarrassment as I have faced today. This is not meant as an insult or to point fingers at anyone. The people who have asked for refunds are perfectly justified and I once again apologise for have quoted wrong specs. However, before I go quietly into the night, I felt that I should clarify a few points that have been raised.
1. I never certified that these were anything other than gliders. I was under the impression that my buyers were buying Gliders and not Micro Electric RC Convertible Airframe Kits. I am not an authority on the subject of Micro RC, but from common sense it seems that if a 480 mm glider can be confidently converted to RC (some people were very confident) so can a 300 mm glider, with a bit of effort.
2. The first and second buyers booked the models immediately upon seeing the pictures without any hesitation. One was candid enough to comment on the topic of electrifying the model that if it didn't work, the kids would play with it. Now he wants his money back. The buyer is always right.
3. Someone commented that actual model B2 does not look anything like the picture that was posted as Series B.jpg. I don't have a B2, so I constructed a B1. Attaching the pictures, please judge for yourself.
4. I came across another comment that this model would only be good enough for static display. The B1 model that I constructed, flies rather well. But then again, I flew it as a rubber powered glider, not as a wannabe Micro RC aircraft.
5. I would like to reiterate, one last time, that this post is not a way to hit back at any individual. I am extremely embarrassed with what I have done. No one else is to blame other than me. I am not offering any lame excuses for the goof up. This was simply an honest endeavour to promote something close to my heart and it went wrong due to a simple oversight. At the end of the day, the seller HAS to accept the blame. I do.
As a Seller, one HAS to ensure that the buyer gets what he was promised. That's where I went wrong.
P.s. There is a member on this forum who still owes me Rs.200/- for something that he failed to deliver. Despite several PM's to him, he has not responded. Will this post change anything.....I doubt it.
The B series....who says cannot be converted into rc?
they can be converted to 3 channel plane
1 ch-motor
1 ch- elevator
1 ch- rudder
I suggest use these servos from hobbyking
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6405&Product_Name=Toki_BioWire_1g_Micro_Servo_(world_first)
or
Visit http://www.microflight.com/
you can sure convert the gliders to rc.
Remember friends.....as taught by my dad....nothing on this earth is useless.....    you just need to figure out the right way of using it....
I assure you the day all my rubberbands get finished
i have only 3.....i will start converting it into RC......
"EXPERTISATION ONLY COMES AFTER EXPERIMENTATION"
I WANT EVERY ONE TO SEE THIS PLANE
ITS A MICRO PLANE
MADE BY TAHLAN SIR....A GREAT BUILDER AND AEROMODELLER INDEED..

VC if you read theory, There is a lot of difference between 300 and 480 mm, Its not only wingspan that increases, but the chord length as well effectively increasing the area, this atleast allows us to put a motor that I already have. But at 300 mm, its more of a fight than effort. I already had electronics for 480 mm and not 300 mm. So it was COMMON SENSE that I ordered a 480mm rather than a 300 mm.

I said that I would give those gliders to kids If I cannot convert a 480mm. I assumed the responsibility of converting it or not being able to convert. If I recieve a 300 mm ones, then its not what I assumed! YES, THE BUYER IS ALWAYS RIGHT IF HE DOES NOT RECEIVE WHAT HE ORDERS!

The wings are EXTREMELY thin. More thinner than that looks in the Series B photo. Its because the wing span is 300 mm and not 480mm,
480 would have its own proportional thickness. Infact the Series B photo looks more like a 48" trainer to me ;D. So whats more important in an online deal is to specify proper dimensions.

Yes, Thats cool, you are accepting the blame. But why again point fingers at us for not doing any wrong? Before you go quietly into the night why make noise? Why say that we dont have common sense to convert a 300 mm to electric or being candid and all that?
VC, I understand what has happened. Iam not telling you cheated us, I took all those photos to show you as a proof and to tell you that the product was useless for us. Not to insult you or mock at you!!!!!
But this post is not what i expected from you! :(
its beauty
Spectrum AR 6400L with on board linear servos, wt 3.9g,
3.9g for Rx and 2 on board servos.
That micro rc is good :) And so is the rubber model. Looks dam good :) VC did you fly it as shown in the pic ( with rubber in a single loop) how far did she fly and for how many turns?
Dear Vinay,
I wouldn't like to refute anything that you say. Simply because it is a waste of your time and mine. As far as the tone of the posts are concerned, I'll let the others compare your tone with mine. I promised you that I will refund your money and I will. Find me another seller who will do this.
There are 2 issues that need to be faced here. 1. The dimensions are not identical to what was offered - that is entirely my fault. 2. Whether these models can be electrified or not - till such time as I have the expertise to achieve that, I will just shut up. The day I can convert it to RC, I will, for sure, let you know.
I too, didn't expect that all three of you would ask for a refund just because you bought a glider and couldn't convert it to RC and then tell me, publicly, that it is for static display only. The issue is not really the size here, is it?
VC
The issue was simple, I had electrics ready for a 480mm sized plane, so I ordered one. Now I cant use that electrics on a this small model, so returning. Anything wrong? its not like 300 mm cant be converted, but Iam neither ashta not Thalan, nor do I have the ability Nor do i have the time to fight converting smaller ones.
And seriously, one wouldnt pay Rs. 600 for such a small glider. Thats the reason I posted the pic holding in my hand.

Rajath, I tried about 70 odd turns, though the thumb rule is about 200 turns or so. I will test her outside tomorrow and will try and post a video for you.
Do read what Vinay has to say in the post above, it may be a bit too much to pay Rs.650/- for this glider with a 310mm wingspan, fuselage length of 290mm and an AUW of 19grams.

Asked because i used a double loop on a model i have so it couldnt take more than 100. Iv seen images online where the rubber was is a single loop although it was too long for the distance between the tail hook and prop (the rubber was sagging). Some sites suggested that the rubber be left sagging a bit. Is this ok?
Ya, I had a friend here in bangalore who called me up immediately after reading this post and said,
"Hey - Last 2 Months back I had been to Forum mall, where they gave a small glider (like the ones you are holding in your hand - but not rubber powered, but some thing like pulling a thread.) free for buying a carbury worth 40 Rs, Iam wondering how come you paid 650 Rs for this." I was speechless _ Iam not making up this story, he is an elderly and respected member of this forum. He asked me not to take up this topic, but you give me no choice.
BTW, VC 650 does not come for free! You dont have to mock at anyone for YOUR OWN MISTAKE!
You are giving a feeling to the forum that nobody should sell any items to me in the future, by saying again and again about the size and Iam not ready to compromise kinda thing indirectly.
What pissed me off is your words of - "NO common sense and candid statements" words publicly for no mistake of mine!
~Amen, Iam not commenting anymore on this thread. Please forgive me for buying the Item.
Please PM me the address to ship this item.
BTW your reputation is no where to go, we all still have the same respect to you.

Hey VC you made a mistake and you appologised for it with a money back option! What more can you do?? You are not forcing anything on anyone. Relax, its not entirely your fault. :)

I too, didn't expect that all three of you would ask for a refund just because you bought a glider and couldn't convert it to RC and then tell me, publicly, that it is for static display only. The issue is not really the size here, is it?
VC
As far as I'm concerned - The product I ordered and the one received are not the same.
Appreciate your gesture of offering refund for the same.
Thanks.
Vinay, I think you must be a much younger man than I thought you to be. I would love to be your friend, anytime. In your place, I would have reacted just the way you have done, you've done nothing wrong - no hard feelings. You take care and enjoy flying. Let me know if you need any assistance from me in future. Thanks for this statement, I really appreciate it - "BTW your reputation is no where to go, we all still have the same respect to you." Thank you my friend. Galati ho gaya bhai, Maaf kar do.
Drone, I appreciate your feelings. Thanks for being so gracious.
Good night.
Hi all,
Its really sad to know that our Forum Hero has been doped by a retailer. Its seems that the retailer had not helped much in disclosing the details to VC sir. and VC, in trying to help out others took the initiative to search for the details on the manufacturer site, so that forum members can will get proper idea of the product they r buying.
thats where the problem started: the website
http://www.lyonaeec.com.hk/R_series/R_home.htm
clearly shows the model VC sir dealt with in 'R' series (R4, R5) which is 480mm wingspan!! Thats where VC got the number!
But models shown in 'B' series are totally different
http://www.lyonaeec.com.hk/B_series/b_home.htm
'B' series is of 385mm wingspan. But I think as the model is listed only in R series VC was made to believe that its 480mm, Thanks to the non-cooperation from the dealer!!
I really appreciate VC's gesture of refunding money. that too when he had already incurred a loss in the shipment and was selling it for a loss to begin!
On other hand, just today afternoon I happened to see some kids happily playing around with 2 of these very models.
VC got the balsa i perfect shape, will try to assemble it soon.
Thank you, my friend. Thank you for trying to redeem me. I am so sorry that I am in the middle of all this controversy and that is causing all of you so much of trouble.
Hi VC,
I have received the parcel today. I thought of assembling the SF260. But found one issue, plastic tail mount is little bend. Have a look the pics attached. I thought of slightly heat and straighten. is this recommended?
let me know the simple best technique to make it straight.
Regards
Dileep
Just heat it in water so that it will not melt and you can straight it
This speaks rather poorly of the DTDC services. Dip the part gently in hot water till it is soft enough and bend it back in shape. Give it some time to cool down thereafter. Is anything else broken? I am not being able to call you as I have lost many numbers from my phone after the memory card crashed.
VC, Dont take my words in a wrong way, But those plane boxes are rather too thin to take a long ride. I mean they are just as thick as tooth paste boxes and any courier services wont care whats inside.
The only other way is to trasnfer using a costly courier which is not viable, or use a hard cardboard box to pack stuff. Writing Fragile wont help as they still have to transport the same amount of cargo in a given lorry, else everyone would have written Fragile.
I have packed the planes ready to be shipped back. I will attach some picture of the repacking I made for the same boxes. I dont know how much help it will be of, but for the lack of time Iam going through this week, this is all I could do.
Pic 1)First layer of bubble wrap.
Pic 2) Added padding and filled up extra space to make it distribute pressure.
Pic 3)Another layer of bubble wrap extra added.
GOD knows where has my parcel dissappeared :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:
i :headscratch: :headscratch:.........if anyone finds it lying at their doorstep please send it to me :salute: :salute: :salute:
At last after weeks of patient waiting I got my stuff.....the winder is a very good thing both as a collectible and for usage
the B2 was a litlle broken from the end along with 1 rubberband. BUT MY TRUSTY CYNO IS ALWAYS THERE WITH ME...SO FIXED...
all the balsa kits were fully intact not a break......
all in all i am happy with the stuff.....
NOW ANY ONE HERE ??????????WHO CAN PROVIDE ME WITH TANSPORT RUBBERBANDS :help: :help: :help: :help:
Thanks Akky! But again I am sorry that I didn't do a good enough job on the packing.
Wow VC bhai, this thread is like whooa kinda..Anwar should have put a exploding dynamite besides the thread instead of the red folder...
hey and another thing! you shouldn't feel bad for what happened, you tried your best and are promoting the hobby. The dealer "spiked your wheels" so no harms! happens sometimes..
as someone said "business baby, business!"
the packing was good but the problem which no one could have noticed was that the lifted attachments of the tail... would get bend
So akky! when are you planning to assemble your glider?
Thanks Dorwin! I've learnt some valuable lessons, practically, from this deal (Luckily, the balsa gliders went off smooth) and these lessons have made me a wiser man. At the end of the day, I see this as a Win - Win situation for me, inspite of the Rs. 4000 odd financial loss!
Lesson 1. People react differently to a given situation. How they choose to react is their Responsibility (The ability to choose a response to a given situation = Response + Ability). I learnt this from my Guru, Stephen Covey.
Lesson 2. No matter how hard you try and how sincere you are - In any process, if one single sector is beyond your total control - that is where things can go wrong (Murphy, are you listening?) and probably will go wrong. Look what DTDC did to my consignments. So do remember to take account of that sector, because you alone are accountable for it.
Lesson 3. Unlike a Product, the quality of a Service can change every day. Today an airlines operates all flights on time and the next day, 2 of them crash. People remember the last taste of the service. Pepsodent toothpaste can't turn bad in one day, the services of your dhobi, can! Till yesterday, DTDC was a trusted courier for me and VC was a trusted name on this forum. Today, however................. :'(
Lesson 4 The most severe learning of all. CHECK, CHECK AND RECHECK the quality and specs of what you are going to sell. The buyer is spending his hard earned money and will react if he does not get what he paid for. Now this takes me back to Lesson 1! ;D
Cheers!
VC - probably could have posted a more pleasant / mundane 1000th log, but then, this is reality.
Actually yes! you are right, we are all humans and we all think differently, its just that crap happens sometimes, but that's life, isn't it?
You know the negative sides of dealing in these kinda situations so probably you wont repeat that error! and be wiser as the clock ticks!
well! looking on the bright side! just yesterday, some kittens in my building scrapped and tore my hard worked Transall as she was drying in the lobby!
but I received my CH 53 Fuselage today, ;D and it will keep me occupied for another month or so, till I finish detailing her to the finest bird!
but as I said "its life, and crap happens"
I am assembling Boreas. All parts are sanded and wing got aerofoil shape. Wing joint is single dihedral in centre. Ufortunately, wing cannot just sit on fuselage. Probability of wing getting folded at dihedral during flight or simply fall off during assembly is quite high. Wing joint is the weakest area. The wing need some sort of support.
Any suggestion pls?

I have received the Eurus which has a square spar of balsa which needs to be put on either side of the fuselage and the tailplane (under the area where the wing and tailplane will sit) for providing support. It will probably be there as a single spar 3x3mm.
I had added a strip of Balsa spar to each kit which would provide as a support to the wing on either side of the fuselage. Pl let me know once you find it.
my Eurus is completed...i found a very good trick to give proper alignment to the wings.....glided welll

Old cycle tube cut to required width and long enough as required. Visit any big department store and check the "car accessories" section. You should see sprays to "protect" car trim and rubber parts. Buy one of those and spray the rubber strip with that to ensure longer life.
they canot be used...they have very less coefficient of elasticity and also they will be very short
