i do agree with akshay, in pune almost all toy stores are stocking these.

As per my advice is its a worthless investment. people do not understand the controls of a helicopter and buy it.

this helis cannot be controlled in wind and can only fly in calm winds or indoors. provided you know the controls.

With all due respect to you Mr. Bajare, as per my very limited knowledge, anyone getting into RC has to know a bit about understanding controls. I wouldn't call these Helis a "worthless investment" as I own 7 different models and they do provide a lot of fun when flying indoors (or outdoors in calm conditions).

Atleast I am happy that I have learnt a fair bit about understanding "the controls of a helicopter" from these toys. ;D

these toys are meant for kids and not for serious modellers.

i myself have learnt the hard way. only thru proper guidance and dedication can one learn the art of aeromodelling.

my personal advise to you is pls do not play with these 3 channel stuff.

get youself a serious 5 ch heli. grow up man.

helis are big boys toys.

You are right Sir, at my age and with 35 years of aeromodelling behind me and 2 six channel Helis in my hangar - I am trying my best to grow up - just give me some time. Unfortunately, I still can't help feeling happy when my 9074 or 5889 flies around my back yard.

I know I need to become like you champions, but I haven't reached that level yet. I need to learn to spell before I can write a thesis.

I am busy enjoying "the art of aeromodelling" and defining my own understanding of enjoyment. I like it that way.

Also, in my humble opinion, a word about unwarranted advice - Don't give it - because the wise don't need it and the fools won't heed it.  :giggle:

everybody grows old, you have to grow up in the right sense.

i dont see a point of flying 3 ch helis. when its said on the boxes for 5+ ages so and up.

fyi , even i am 39 old and with an all up exp of 20+ yrs in rc. i am still today learning to hover.

i am into full time rc training and speaking on my experience.

if you are promoting rc, pls do it in the right way.

I am promoting Aeromodelling, Enjoyment and Happiness about which I have a fair bit of relevant experience.

Before people start taking sides and post any further, let us examine this:

Mr. Bajare is correct from his point of view. For the serious Heli fliers, these toys are a waste of money and are regarded as "useless toys". However, those with a limited budget and those who are beginners can benefit from these by using them to get a hang of the controls before moving on to bigger, more serious, models.

I respect his point of view and would request others to refrain from commenting any further.

I dont know about you guys but i still love my little 3ch IR heli :D

? is not about surrendering. aeromodelling can be enjoyed only if you know it right.

i have seen many people frustrated and leave the hobby. that is becoz they choose the wrong models.

the 3 ch helis will only spoil the beginners way of learning. you cannot fly a heli with rudder only.

a good 4 ch heli gives you almost real like controls. except for the pitch not needed for learning.

i am flying the revell protomax like an rc airplane and learnt to fly it in just 2 days.

hence guys live in the real world and spread the right information. stay away from gimmicks it will give you enjoyment for less bucks but you will stay away from realism.

This is a screenshot from Helipal. Even they consider a 3Ch heli as a good ption for a beginner... He will atelast know how to control and maneuver the heli...

People have their own point of views.

But what i guess, there is nothing wrong in liking the simple things..

My personal experiece-
I learned two wheeler from a bicycle on my own at an age of 8(i guess),continued to drive..
i learned Moped(like luna), at age of 15,
then at age of 19 i got bike,continuing..
I am on four wheel drive now atleast twice a week.

I have driven best if vehicles awailable here in lucknow..

but...

I still love to ride bicycle. And i go on bicycle ride on cool evenings..

I am not so grown up to say but still I feel that- "When u are fed up of complexities, you run towards the simplicity." and you get a incredible peace of mind

these things in my opinion is expensive toys, average life span of 1,5 minute for most people, somehow cheap to buy but
normally  poor quality and normally expensive parts

my recomendation is for any beginner to stay away from these toys if u want to learn to fly rc helicopter.

i cant c any use for a 3 channel heli , 4 channel ok for some 1 that want to fly indoor or outdoor on a super calm day

for a beginner indoor is not a option unless 1 have a really big space to fly in

so in mho only go for a 6ch normal heli if 1 want to learn heli flying

If you are serious about getting into "RC flying" AND choose helis as the medium of choice, my recommendation is to spend the initial money on a good sim.  Then get a 4+ch heli.  That is my personal experience, I learnt flying a heli first, planes came a while later.

That said, there is a reason why I put "RC Flying" in quotes.  As I realized after starting this forum and interacting with the members here, there are two distinct classes within this hobby (I mean on the flying side, not considering cars etc).  One is aeromodelling, which is learning the finer aspects of why and how things fly (aerodynamics etc).  The second class is purely the fun of flying something... letting a "device" act based on your controls, making something fly to your whim and fancy.  Depending what your priorities are, you may fall into one of these classes. In other words, one class may be more important to you than the other class, or it could be a ratio of some sort.  What I did see on this forum more often than not, is somewhat of a looking down by the "pure aeromodelling" class to the "I want to just fly for fun" class.

I hope this puts things in perspective ;D

Actually for most of us still it's a stress buster and fun...I bought a 3 ch heli some 3 years back and still flying it along with my 6 ch heli. For me or for the rest of the gang on this forum, detailing of this 'ART' is not important, but what is important is flying.

Yeah we all are forced to go in detailing to keep our products safe and maintained and some of us are keen learners so they also learn basics and advanced skills too...

And my personal belief..."no money spent for hobby is a waste, it's an investment; I have my 3 ch heli placed in the showcase which look more beautiful than my 6 ch one  :)

How we perceive our spent ...a waste or an investment ..... is our choice... :salute:
