This is what it looks like (2 sheets one on top of the other).
Also spoke with DTDC, volumetric rates for 8 - 10 sheets of 2ft X 1 ft size, packed with Bubble tape and coroplast on either side will cost Rs. 800 approximately. Thus this consignment will cost a total of Rs. 1700/-. (Rs.45 X 20 Sq.Ft + Rs.800/-).
five sheets for me, local pick up !!!
Thanks Sir. PM sent.
Is this product available anywhere else in India? If so, at what price? I fear that I am being charged high by my supplier for transportation to Guwahati, Assam.
dunno much but the first pics what u posted resemble to what i use ( also the discription)
one sheet(polymer) sandwiched between depron....
for a 8mm sheet costs me :Rs:50 ( 2ftX 3ft)...pick up mumbai...!
local mumbaikars can check out....!
Crawford market.
The third picture is the actual stuff. It is NOT Polymer sandwiched between Depron, but the other way around. It is 6mm Depron sandwiched between 2 sheets of acid proof, gossamer thin polymer.
i will upload some pics tomo....! by eve..!
Vishwa, any luck with the photos?
yes sir got some pics....!
there is a layer of polymer on top, in center and at bottom....
sorry for quality of the pics... that happed for 2 reasons
1> size restrictions on the forum
2> simply because my camera sucks..... :banghead:
What thickness is this? And is this Depron / Bio foam sandwiched or is it something else? Also do you have any idea what it would weigh per sq.ft.?
I doubt if there can be so much of a price variance for the same product (Rs.8.33/sq.ft. Vs Rs.45.00/sq.ft.)...................
its bio foam...! send me your address... will send u a sample piece...
looking at the price(its six times the difference)..! i may be wrong in judging...! u are the best judge as u will have both to compare..!
Thanks, if it is different, I will send you back a piece of what I have. Sending you my address by PM.
ship it in 2 days time...!
i have 2 different type of foams.... polymer coated...!
in one u can actually peel it off, if u want it flexible... else keep it if u want hard...! will send u both ..!
Ok guys I received the sample sent VC today.
Updates follows.
it was 5 mm thickness ( may be because it was sample). 5 mm is good but Defenitly would also prefer a 6 mm though.
Its defenitely biofoam ( But it felt more denser than the usual bio foam that was after the film was removed from both sides. I have no means to ratify it though) but it was sandwitched between two sheets of polyfilm which was more stiffer and thicker than oracover or monocoat.
It is pretty stiff even with the film removed but with the film on both sides it is like a biofoam given a monocoat cover strong like a board without the weight component of a board.
With film on it can be painted with variety of paints not possible earlier ( with due care to avoid contact with foam thorough accidental puntures and foam edges)
Its strong and shielded enough (protect foam from oil spray) to make a glow model. You have to insulate/ sheild/ offset the foam from heat of engine though.
Defenitly worth a buy
Sandy, thanks for the expert advice, it will help a lot and I am a relieved man today! Pl let me know your requirements.
To all. Sandy and Gusty were also sent samples of the pieces that I received from AeroVishwa along with the Foam Core Board.
Regards.
VC sir i am waiting for my sample...!
the sample i send i available in any thickness.. also u get sheets of 4ftX6ft...
given u the address and contact no...can check out with him...!
@sundaram sir: could u please differentiate the reviews on my sample and VC sirs...??
Usually the biofoams which we have been buying are all a sandwiched layers of thinner foams to arrive at the desired thickness. Like a 6mm foam is two layers of 3mm stuck together to arrive at 6mm.
This one is a single sheet of 5mm foam without layers. It might be the main reason for its stiffness and strength.
Further this is available in size of 4'x8' unlike other biofoam sources which is 100cm x 60cm max. it gives you option to make one piece longer wings, bigger flying wings.
VC If you can manage to get it shipped in larger sizes it would be nothing like it.
@Aerovishwa I am collecting you sample today will review the comparison too. I am sure your's is a plain biofoam available in any thickness in layers. For the people who have a biofoam sources close to home I agree the pricing here is on the higher side. But if I compare to the rate at which I have bought biofoam from forum members here then it seems OK.
Sandy - 20 sheets @ 4'X4'
Gusty - 20 sheets @ 4'X4' - Modified after Post # 19
Self - 10 sheets @ 4'X4'
Order confirmed.
Make it 20 for me VC
OOOOPSIE!
Wilco Boss.
Aerovishwa I have received your sample of 8 mm bio foam as well as 4mm laminated on one side.
Firstly the eight mm is a biofoam of two layers of 4 mm stuck together. Which could be separated if you could probe the joint.
The four mm is two layers of 2mm biofoam again and one side lamination was transloucent but not the same material on VCs sample. Yours is easily tearable, whereas VCs sample has a thicker film with more strength. Though its also tearable but defenitly with more effort.
Main thing is VCs sample even after its peeled its more denser and stiffer the biofoam which we all have bends easily.
Aerovishwa can I know how much a 4'x4' double sided laminated bio foam of 5 mm and an unlaminated 8 mm costs at your end
Sandy/Gusty - Got your confirmatory text this morning. Confirming your orders for 20 sheets each. have decided to go ahead with 10 sheets for myself too.

where to get depron sheet in local ?
Aerofoils making tech using a similar foam called Dollar Tree with film layers on both sides. This will turn out to be an amazing scratch build what say VC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=karr67ZYho4
seen many videos , where dollar tree foam is used.
Where can we get that in india ?
VC was kind enough to source the Dollar Tree type foam for us, and we polished off his entire stock. Give him a holler may be he can help you.
It is available at a shop in Abdul Reheman Street, Mumbai. 250 per sheet, very good quality but size is smaller than normal depron sheets. What i did is used normal depron sheets, coated its side with transparent tape, works great for wing folds.. can be covered up by paper or paint. ;)
these aeroplanes were made from this exceptional foam and i won a pt 20 ryan from sujju uncle. thank you VC uncle.

PS
get ready you are late for school grrr..
The best foam Sandy & I got (thanks to efforts by VC, Sandy & Sandy's Johnies ) who got them to Shillong.
This foam doesn't require CF rods, just cut it fix it and fly it, super rigid, ideal to make even full fuse airframes without the use of CF again.
Thanks VC
Selling off a surplus stock of Dollar Tree type / Foam Core Board. Each piece measures 4 ' x 4 ' @ Rs. 650/- per piece (approx. Rs.40/- per sq.ft.).
Stock 10 sheets.
Extremely resilient and does not require any reinforcement. Due to the PU covering on both sides, it can be spray painted.
Local pick up preferred.
Can procure more if orders follow, though the prices must have escalated since then.
How much for that 10 sheets???I really want those

Just checked the rates on Speedpost. 5 sheets packed together with 2mm Ply sheets top and bottom should weigh around 2 kgs. Shipping would be around Rs.250/- as per : http://www.indiapost.gov.in/SP_Dom.aspx
Cost of ply + packing will be another 250/-. (Approx - as I am not sure how much the ply and packing cloth will cost)
Cost of 5 sheets = 3250/-
Total would be APPROX Rs.3750/- for 5 sheets.
CAN SHIP ONLY IF SPEEDPOST ACCEPTS THE SIZE - 4 ' X 4' X 6".
a bit affordable than this ;) :(
Whats the address in Guwahati?
Im interested for local pick up
whats the flexibility of this thing... I am abit confused about the foam to buy... I've found some foam board in a shop over here 3mm. He assures me its foamboard... it is foam laminated between two sheets of thin paper... its very flexible.. please can you post a pic wiht the sheet bending to its maximum without breaking... that way i'll knw if thats the thing to buy...
Not available in Guwahati any more. Sorry.
3 mm foam board is likely to be flexible to an extent with lamination and lot more without. You cannot compare with 6 mm which is very rigid in comparison.
This thing is laminated with plastic film right? The thing i saw had paper lamination. Does that make any difference?
hey VC can u tell me where to get depron in guwahati or give me ur contacts cause we cant find any shop here
You could buy it online from kinetichobbies.
