COMMON guys ... its a platform for all of who consider flying the models as a passion of their lives... so dont use it wrongly and to disgrace the hobby like the above offer made.. i completely agree that the above stuff is little over priced but the owner has already mentioned that he is ready to negotiate with a genuine buyer .. so if one really wants to buy it qoute decent prices.. dont make a fun out of this lovely platform...this was with all due repect and regards to all the fellow modellers...
sorry anwar could not stop myself by writting this bcoz felt bad and hurt that the fraternity is fooling around in here...

I would not be surprised if the seller found the offer borderline insulting :(  I would suggest that buyers make reasonable offers for the items, preferably via PM.

Hi All....

I'm really surprised that the thread is still getting messages... :)  Anyway, I realized there are better places with more open minded, well informed & true hobbists elsewhere... and I'm active over there... Thanks for all your responses...

anwar

People seem to be getting various responses and opinions based on what is up for sale, at what prices in comparison with current market rates !

Like this feedback from a member on how fast he was able to sell a whole bunch of his items in record time compared to other places ;)

Like the seller said, he is active elsewhere (just 12 posts and a 1lac item for sale :) ), so was just trying to post the item here to see the kind of response the post generates.

While some commercial transaction is acceptable, I find more and more people just joining to post 'items for sale'. I am not sure what it does for the development of the sport/hobby in general.

Its obvious Pankaj, Not all get time and Continuous internet access or Interest in the digital online world. Hence, they come online only to sell stuff. Especially, if there are a group of hobbyists staying nearby, they would barely have time left to spend Online as they will be busy with discussions among them self, with a few exceptions.

For the record, only one post on the forum just to sell stuff is perfectly fine :)  The reason is that such posts may make items accessible to others at rates which are most often better deals than buying them new.  It is a stated goal of this forum to make "classifieds" type of sales as easy as possible, and I accept the blame for too much trade talk here !

@ ANWAR: I had a feeling that this was running tru your mind and 'bang' you mentioned it.

But whatever said - the spirit on this forum is unique and free.

Hi All,

Well, I would just like to clarify, I did not join to only sell.  When I started RC, I really went thru a very long learning curve..most of it in the building, set-up & configuration.  I was wondering is there a place where somedoby can offer services of building & configuring..so that the beginner can practice the flying which actually builds his confidence on the hobby.  But I could not find anything.. When I upgraded to better heli & gyrobot900, I thought it would be a good idea to sell my trex500 along with the installed & fully configured Helicommand so that somebody who is in the same position as I was few years ago...can speed-up his learning curve.  Like many others, I am on the atleast 15 different online communities of various intersts (RC, Photography, Cycling etc..).  Its quite common for members to exchange, sell & buy items.  But nowhere did I see such remarks which really demotivate the members... Its really not a healthy group.. I know things will change...and hence keep comming back once a while... Thanks to all!!

I think you are slightly mistaken here

mpnchar,
I don't think you can decide the health of the forum based on little time that you have spent here. I have spent little over a year here and 1'm loving it. While every one has his/her opinion, I  do not think you are correct in your assessment.

Dear mpnchar...

I thought multiple times before deciding to post on this thread again ;)  Basically I wanted to raise a few points, and learn (or get suggestions on) how to make this forum better.

1.  In this case (ie, on this thread), two things happened.  One is that people pointed out current market prices, and the reason for the same was clarified which is to protect others, especially beginners, from overspending.

2. Secondly, someone made a really low-ball offer.  Others (including myself) voiced our concern on the same.  But if you look at that carefully, the person made the offer half jokingly.  In such instances, there are two ways to respond.  One is to take it in the stride, and respond with something like "for that price, I will sell you one of the tail blades!" or something to that effect, sending a clear yet sublime message that such offers are unwelcome.  The other option is to say it as it is, which most likely ends up some friction (which seems to be what has happened here).  Now which option one takes is entirely up to the individual.

3. Now the most important thing is how the forum as a whole acts and how the moderator acts.  It is clear from the thread that people have come to the defense of the victim.  It is funny that people are defending the forum itself, when they feel it is the victim !

Overall, I cannot see, based on this thread, what is unhealthy, and what can be improved.  I would be deeply appreciative of your suggestions/comments/clarifications on the same.  It has been made clear from time to time (and again on this thread) that we will promote classifieds sale whole-heartedly, yet some mention of "demotivating remarks" are made.  What exactly are the "demotivating remarks" ? The fact that some one low-balled and got called by others for it ?  I have seen much worse elsewhere.  Or was it the fact that current market prices were discussed ?

Summed up everything there... Makes perfect sense

Nowhere does it say "classifieds with a pinch of salt"

Actually the fact is that the group here is healthy and 'very astute/discerning'.
