For sale, Futaba R 6014 FS, 2 nos., used, VGC. They have a silver dot, for what it is worth. Will accept a reasonable offer, preferably for both.
Reason for selling: Just got a 12FGA with 5 receivers and don't need so many.
Ditched the JR 11x idea ? ;)
Jai Futaba :giggle:
Yes. For a couple of reasons. Some lack of confidence, and the clincher, a great deal on my set. It was an offer I would have been stupid to refuse!
Other minor things, like a large number of Futaba servos, leads, etc. also did their, albeit little, bit.
I did not hear anything particularly bad about the 11X... so wondering about the "lack of confidence" remark.
Having used a 12FG for a while now, the only thing I miss in it seems to be a backlit display.
[Modified] 12z also does not have backlit display, it is the 8FG that has it.
Any clue on these mysterious "dots"?

This is the discussion we had on the subject earlier :

Basically these seem to be more tolerant to ambient temperatures, but Futaba has never officially acknowledged that they ever had any heat issues under "normal use with basic best practices" ;) That thread has tests by people which confirms that these newer dotted ones can handled more heat ! One of these days I should open up an old one and a new one and see if they swapped the chip that had the 60C temperature limit !

Yep, saw that earlier. Seems like a lot of people do it on their DX7s too.
No, not feeling THAT adventurous on something like a 12FG :P

You have, obviously, not had issues with the FS series. And what's with the "white" (looked like silver to me) and "gold" dots.
whats ur expected price sushil sir??

Nope, no radios issues with the FS receivers... and we fly in a desert. This is probably why Futaba also claimed all along that they do not have this "temperature" issue, as it only affects people who are careless about ventilation/direct-heat (and that too quite a bit of it). If we consider keeping the aircraft/receiver in the shade (or covered) as just like following the instruction to keep the two antennas at 90degrees to each other, then there is pretty much absolute peace of mind.
I am not sure what the difference in color of the dots mean. The dots do give you even more peace of mind in terms of how careful you should be about exposing your receiver to heat.

Comments on this ?
Not specifically the 11X but my little, amateur research, seemed to indicate that there were more "unknown cause lockouts" with JR/Spektrum (as a %age) as compared to FUTABA. Sanwa seems to have a perfect record. No one (that I know of) has Hitec.
Bang on... just like I suspected. Off late, one of the "most active thread today" list on RCU everyday is about unexplained lockouts on JR/Spektrum. In the same threads, people talk about 4 years and 1000s of flights on Spektrum without issues too :headscratch:
Not exactly in line with the discussions, but just to let all know that JR and Spektrum have parted ways. Read it somewhere today on RCU or RCG.
Any way this thread gives a free bump to the thread, back to top!!
Time to start a thread on that !
