Yes i do agree tooooo. Pretty costly hobby. A simple/small crash will make a big hole in the pocket. On top of that, spare parts are not available in india, need to wait for long time.

I have already gave up this hobby many times.   :giggle:

When ever i crash my heli, i feel like lets give up this hobby, only on that day. The next day, as usually i start counting spare parts. The next day i will open the web site, the next day i will order the spare parts. Once the spares reached in hand, slowly slowly, i will assemble them will start flying again. Now its happy. A heli meant to be crashed, if not today, may be some other day, so it will crash again, for that day i feel like giving up this hobby and next day i will count the spare parts and so on....As i already told you, i have already gave up this hobby many times.

this is what the Heli Modelling is...... ? may be

that's the reason why india still lags in skilled heli pilots with few exceptions. I have seen people with raptors and other similar large size helis doing just hovering and sports. The cost and patience is what makes them some what furgal and  to chagrin. :)

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Please dont take hovering and sports flying that lightly. I think most of fliers start as aspiring 3d pilots. Apart from cash it requires patience n practice of thousands of hours (unless u got those gifted fingers or thumbs). N remember the hobby is fun/relaxation sports for most.

It is mind boggling to see the amount of precision required for completing few simple manuevers in sports flying. Most of us will get disqualified in simple figure of 8s n rolls forget a pirouetting circle. Doing just a roll is ok but a 4 point roll without the loss of height or change in direction is a different ball game.

The below video will show what is controlled hovering pattern.

Some of the mauevers for us to master if ever any of us goes to Heli masters

hi,

A hobby is for self learning and motivation. besides it depends on what level you can afford to do it. one usually does it for pastime leisure activity. A lot if mistakes happen while learning and in aeromodelling it costs, specially in heli's.

Inspite of having 20+yrs exp i am stull learning new things and like to experiment. Its not that i cannot fly heli's or could not afford it.
but i had a limit and could not go beyond that being a family persona and single earner that too from aeromodelling only.

All videos showing 3d skills are tempting and push you towards the it. but one forgets that these people are flying fulltime and are mainly sponsored. some do have god given skills who pick up so fast and are daring to do what we would not even imagine.

after spending 25k/50k/1lac on a heli, i will not even attempt a loop or roll.

In fact i enjoy scale flying and that gives me more happiness.

I am not against laws of newton and nature and hence would better respect them and enjoy my hobby.

;D
