So far clocked in 4kms with solid video link. With my new Frsky 7dbi Patch Tx antenna and a new Saw Filter added to the 900Mhz receiver, should get close to about 10kms. The saw filter is a 17.6MHz pass bandwidth narrowband filter that is claimed to improve the performance of the stock 900Mhz HK receiver. The patch 900 that you see on the tripod is a 7.5 dbi gain antenna. However at 2.6km the video gets snowy, hence I ordered a saw filter for $4.  ;D

With a patch on the ground for video rx, the polarization is not an issue anymore...

Truly.............Sunday was good for me...i cannot see the bird but can see the Ariel video clearly. the system is totally fail safe even if video is not available, just flip of a button will bring the bird in range. didn't know the detail of technology much but have seen practically with Saurabh.
range checked was close to 4.5 KM....
Good for defense purpose....

Fly high if you have good set of batteries.....!

Re done the interiors of the Ground station.

Now have the DVR and an amplified video splitter too.

1.) Using a 9inch screen with HK 900Mhz 1500mW Video Tx and Rx.
2.) 900 Mhz Patch on the ground connected to the video Rx through RG58 cable (bundled at the bottom)
3.) Output of Video Rx fed to the AV splitter with apmplifier (Not visible here, it is on the bottom side of the foam.)
4.) One output from the AV Splitter fed to the LCD screen.
5.) One output from the AV Splitter fed to BEVRC pv700 Video Recorder.
6.) One output from the AV Splitter fed to the Immersion RC 5.8G 600mW Video Tx (installed with a 12V Fan)
7.) Immersion RC Video Tx re-transmits the video from the AV splitter to Fatshark Dominator Goggles. (Extreme left)
8.) Fatshark is totally wirefree and with its own battery.
9.) Powerpack to the whole system is through 3000mAH 3Cell Turnigy Lipo. (Extreme Right)
10.) Remote for BEVRC Video Recorder (Black one)
11.) Charger for Video Recorder is placed above the LCD screen.
12.) Lipo Battery checker is placed just below the video recorder remote.

You should move your ground station away from your car. It would actually result in multipath interference. You might get even more range i guess.

Haha..its not as neat as yours. It was done with some old briefcase

I am currently frustrated as I dont have a recording unit. My easycap was crap and wont record anything, probably i got a fakeone.

Cool. How have you attached the monitor/other components to the foam?

Hot GLUE... :)
Unfortunately i also  had stuck that with hotglue ...grrr came out after a month or so. Now i need a better way to fix it

saurabhhsrivastavaa

You can also use 5 min epoxy... but then it will be permanent... the whole point of using the hot glue is that you can remove it when required and re-organize...

Saurabh and Ashok This was my FPV base station setup

Seeing you guys I am planning to go all professional. All whats in the photo above has to go in the briefcase less the Laptop and may be less the lipo too. Any Pointer before I begin applying myself randomly. On a second thought I feel I have got a smaller briefcase not the standard size.

Don't say "loose the laptop since you already have a display, media recorders can be used for recording", because I need the laptop not only for recording but also for tracking in Map.

My only concern with ground station was to keep it simple and a quicker assembly in field. In mine its just under a minute, connect the rx antenna and connect the deans. I have upgraded to a cloverleaf antenna.. Will update the pics of somewhat cleaned up version of ground station.

foamybuilder

As yours is a diversity setup, you might need a bigger briefcase and you can have suitcase mounted on a tripod. You can also be away from your ground station as you use goggles not in my case.
Or buy a fordable table like I did, u can put everything there.

saurabhhsrivastavaa

This is the FINAL version of my FPV Ground Station.  :)

Did some final Paddings and tagging and decaling.
