As shipping is concerned, it will be expensive because of volumetric weight. the plane is assembled and it will need a bigggg box to ship it. so people from other cities are requested to keep in mind the shipping charges as it will be borne by them. Thx

Hi CrazyPilot,
My Post do not intend to under mine your efforts to donate this plane. But is for this plane.

The story goes back in December 2010, when I was looking for a beginner plane, to give a start to Yash, in Rc flying. I could not find any reliable and feasible alternative with any of the LHSs in India, and because Yash was having his Christmas holidays at that time was desperate to start at that time, I saw this thread for Yummy cub. And with no alternatives in hand I thought of giving it a try.

Plane reached me after all the following up with seller in January 2011, Yash's Christmas holidays were over by the time we received it. Any ways we were eager to start. I arranged for all the electric set ups required. Went to local flying field, so that this plane can be maidened. But it's first maiden by experienced Bangalore Flyers was a failure, the yummy cub even refused to take off. There was liitle damage which was repaired. And was tried again at Hoskote by a experienced flyer, same was the results again. Yash felt very bad seeing his first plane crashing again and again.
So I decided to put this plane aside and buy a foamy ARF for him. The plane came, but he can't go for flying because of his exams.
Ujjwaana started teaching him, after his exams were over and he is flying solos from last few weeks.

Last week Ujjwaana and I decieded to try to fly this Yummy Cub once again, he repaired and reinforced it properly. And took it to Hoskote, First few attempts to fly it were in vain, But Shadman insisted that he can take this Yummy cub to air, After minor on field repairs, it took off, but after 3-4 seconds, the yummy cub came crashing on the ground, and after inspection we can easily make out wing of this plane broke off in two parts, was the cause of crash. I put the plane on one of the trees at Hoskote to RIP.

(@Atul_PG, this plane have deceiving looks, Looks Gorgeous and fly, well it don't know what it is)

So please keep in mind that this plane is not worth wasting you precious time on field.

And Specially beginners keep away from this plane, if you really want to learn flying.

All the Best
AkshayB

On the lighter note, I would suggest the perspective recipient to do the following before flying:

1. Reinforce the wing with CF Rod or even a stiff Spar form wing tip to wing tip. You can just remove the packing form the wing tip, re-apply CA to Tube and insert inside the wing chamber at 1/3 form leadign edge.

2. Make sure the Motor mount angle is neutral  - 0/0. Even after repair, I could not totally eliminate a left thrust.

3. The plane has Longeron/Spar cut from Sun Board. if you find wrap/slack at any place in the Fuse, put some wooden spar.

The plane is beautifully made. Wish it was a bit toughly built for what SPAD are known for. In other words, The 'Yummy' Cub was 'Healthier' too!!

Before Flying?
Rather before trying to fly I would say. Be Positive they say.

One thing I can say for sure, this plane will always be famous as a "Time spoiler".

Any one planning to put together a museum for RC planes?

May be Bikaner is lucky for this Yummy cub, as Bikaner is famous for all the yummy things. LOL

I haven't seen the Yummy cub. It may be poorly built. I can always vouch for the sturdyness for SPADs. I had two incidents which really surprised me:

1, Once I had the main fuselage spar broken in mid flight. The plane kept flying as normal and I landed and taxied it. I then realised that the spar has broken only when I was packing up.

2, In an unfortunate situation, one of my SPAD flew through a balsa trainer in mid air. The trainer was totalled but my spad only had a prop damage and I could still fly it, make a turn and land it safe.

I would say, its worth the effort to do the reinforcement suggested by Ujjawana.

This videos has fooled many on this forum, including me.

If an ARF, that also a SPAD made out of coro sheet needs so much work, it makes sense to cut your own coro sheet and make a better reinforced, model. You don't want to buy an ARF, just for its coro sheets.

I disagree.

I have enough Coro & CA but still want it to learn lot of thngs from expert built.

I know that I can learn a lot from a expert built plane that enrich my knowledge. There is no end of learning. Even if someone else win, I just see the built as messenger.

Thanks.
