Mera Bharat Mahan Nahi hai
Par ye dosh mera hai

These intriguing lines by Mr. Shailesh Gandhi from Episode 4 of the Satyamev Jayate Season 2 (Kings Every Day) had an epiphanic result on me. Another part of his discussion with Aamir where he mentioned that "Aise masiah nahi aayenge" (There will be no Messiah, we will have to take the responsibility and take the initiative ourself) left me intrigued with the question, "Is there anything that i on a personal level can do to create some impact, no matter how small or big?"

Then i recently watched Episode #5 (Criminalization of Politics) over YouTube:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwRK4oL4O60
The fact shared during this show that 'contestants with criminal charges have had a better chance of winning elections than that of a clean Candidate' was shocking and filled me with rage.
If we keep the political Party aside for the time being and just focus on the candidate (if he have had a criminal history or not) then a Parliament with Clean leaders sounds much better than a Parliament with huge number of criminals. If we are able to keep Criminals away from the Parliament, then we definitely should. If there's a time to act, it has to be now.

During the last few minutes of this episode, Aamir took the oath while wearing the Tricolor Wristband. And that was a boomer for me. I felt that the message he gave by taking this oath is strong and will have a widespread but then we tend to forget events as days pass by. But if we can have similar bands on our wrist, it will atleast help us in reminding about the oath while we cast our vote. Eventually it will also help in spreading the message to more people.

Here's the Oath:

"These delicate threads symbolize this strong oath: I will not sell my vote and nor will not cast my vote in favour of a tainted candidate.
I will not take off these threads until I cast my vote in the coming elections.
Starting today until the day I cast my vote, I will proudly show these threads to every person I come across.
I make a promise to myself and to my country, and I would like you to support me in this oath.
Jai Hind. Satyamev Jayate."
-Aamir Khan

I thought i can easily distribute these bands by sending them along with various packages that we send to our customers on a day to day basis right after they place an order on our eBay store.

Sourcing Tricolor Bands:
I tried finding these bands locally as well as online but with almost no initial luck.
Then after few days, i contacted the team of Satyamev Jayate through their website http://www.satyamevjayate.in/ and got a reply after some time from Chandni Parekh, Head (Outreach) from Aamir Khan Productions. I asked her if they can point me in the direction from where i can get these bands.

After some E-Mails/Phone calls, i was explained that these bands can be easily made by combining 3 woollen threads. That's exactly what Aamir's wearing.
Blonde me! was looking in the wrong direction. I was trying to find readymade bands. Well, the design of the bands doesn't matter much but the message does.

We digged the city to find various bits and pieces. Including me i got anyone and everyone that i could find involved in preparing and packing the bands. Special thanks to my mom too. Without her making the spherical rolls from the wool would have been a nightmare.

We do now have got ample Tricolor Wristbands prepared. Every band is about 50cm long which can easily be tied after 2 turns on the wrist. We have packed 5Pcs of bands along with a small note containing the oath and a short message in a transparent plastic bag. We have already started sending out these packets along with our webstore shipments from Friday, April 11th.

We are pleased to announce that since now we do have ample resources, we have decided to further expand our expedition and we want to send these Tricolor Wristbands to anyone and everyone we can.

We request all members at RcIndia to kindly participate in this initiative by giving us a chance to send these Wristbands to you.

How to get these Bands?
Pretty simple, Just send us a PM with your complete address (along with name and phone number) and we will ship out these packets to you within 24 hours (preferably) by Speed Post

Please be advised that...
You do not have to buy anything from us to request these bands.
You do not have to pay anything for the bands nor for the shipping.
If you are willing to distribute even more bands, then in the same PM please mentioned the quantity that you would require and we will try our best to comply. We request everyone to try distributing as many as possible.
We will continue to distribute these bands until about the end of General Elections 2014.

We sincerely thank everyone for giving us a chance be able to serve.
Let's take this oath to ensure No-Entry for candidates from criminal background in the Parliament.

Thanks everyone for the nice words. Great to see your PM's.

Folks, please do not hesitate in requesting quantity.
We do have ample packets/Bands available with us at the moment and we are almost 24/7 on it making a lot of packets every single day to meet the requirement.
Finding wool is getting a bit difficult as 2 local stores here selling wool have got out of stock on few/all the required colors.
While the search of more wool (huh, in summer) is still on. We are applying 'Jugaad' by using Cream color threads instead of white or Light Green threads instead of Regular Green and so on.

Every Packet contains 5 bands.
Feel free to quote either the number of packets or the number of Bands that you can distribute.

We will be sending just 1 Packet to PM's where the quantity is not mentioned.
Feel free to request more quantity if you can distribute it

Would appreciate participation from as many members as possible.

Admin, if possible please make this topic available on the homepage atleast throughout April so that it can help us in distributing as many Tricolor Wristbands as possible.

While I agree with the thought/principle behind this, I would like this site to remain totally neutral, even if that means abetting what seems like injustice.

We are here to promote RC, and nothing else. We certainly do not want to get into mass movements supporting any cause that does not have a direct impact on RC.  There is nothing wrong with people voicing personal opinions on matters that affect us all, but we do not want this site used as a "platform" for anything (however harmless it seems).  I see trouble in the horizon if we do not nip this in the bud.

Apolitically... yours truly.

PS: It may seem like a decision bordering cowardice, but that is every editor's dilemma. I hope to God that I am right.

Anwar is right, no cowardice on his part.

All members
Try talking to Gusty.
He is the biggest flag bearer of patriotism on this forum (that i know of)
You will get a lesson on what it is that we need to be patriotic about.
But it is NOT the subject of this forum.
Pm him but do not post.
@rcpilotacro
Sorry i put you on the firing line, but it is only because i don't have similar credentials.

These colours represent India and we will be proud to wear it. Damn the controversy and the political innuendoes. From Anwar Sahab's p.o.v., he is right, but then we are just promoting the National Colours, aren't we? No harm in that!

This is where even years of age/experience still gets people in trouble :) If there was no mention about Satyameva Jayate and "no entry for criminal candidates in politics" as the REAL AGENDA behind this distribution, it would have been totally harmless.

This is what we need to watch out for... what is being projected is not often what really matters, and the real motivation for many of the things/temptations we see around us are often masked.

Now some may ask, what is wrong with preventing candidates with criminal backgrounds in politics ? That seems like a no nonsense proposition, right ?  It generally is !

The issue is with how such things get misused.  It is not really difficult to get someone branded a criminal. The question is what are the safeguards that an innocent person has if he is slapped with a fraudulent case ?

This combined with some media collusion can turn the tables easily on someone whose intentions might be totally benign.

One has to stop and think if things are really that black and white.

The Distribution of Tricolor Wristbands was a campaign that we were running only during 2014 General Elections.
Sorry but we don't have any materials left at the moment which i can send at the moment.

These bands however can easily be self made using wool (or any thick Thread).
Just get the 3 color threads, cut them in equal length (about 50cm each) and tie them up at both ends.
