.according to me prize last time ki tarah hi ye apne me distribut kar lenge. kyu time waste kar rahe ho

Care to explain this? What are you trying to say? That the contest was rigged, the winners and judges were together hand-in-glove?

prabal276

thats what i am saying...
he cant just go on saying whatever he likes.....

girishsarwal

@akshay550, if you can churn out a half decent model that meets the requirements of the sweeps, with or without help from the same members of this forum who you're critical of, I'm confident loads of guys (including myself) on this forum would be glad to give you a prize off their own pockets. That is the kind of trust, and energy we've instilled for this hobby, this forum, sweepstakes and the judges.

So are you going to make something for the sweeps or live with your accusations? Decide for yourself

To aap log prize me liye aeromodelling me interested hai naki aermodelling me. I was devastated seeing the results of 2014. Ppl just 'assembling' parts were winner, rather than those creating . any way that's my viewpoint.

@girisharwal I left flying planes when I was in 8th class. Readymade chiz to koi bhi uda lega. Since i left work on them.

But one thing was well said by our senior members - if you can make scratch things fly its a prize for your self.

prabal276

to aap ye suniye:
we are interested in aeromodelling from the years before...
even if this was just a sweepstake without a prize, we would participate.
I always build planes by my self....
If you visit my house, you wont find any plane that is rtf or pnf or arf i always build from scratch because that gives a new feeling... This sweepstake is to encourage people to stay in the beautiful hobby and keep scratchbuilding..
This is true:
"if you can make scratch things fly its a prize for your self."
You think that: "Readymade chiz to koi bhi uda lega"
go then share me a video of you flying a scale fokker dv2 or a bleriot....

ashok baijal

I was also a winner of last year sweepstakes. I can assure everyone that there was no collusion or rigging. In fact my entry of Fokker DRVII was my first build on RCIndia. If you go through the build thread and say it was not a fit entry for consideration for a prize, I will refund the prize money and it can be given to guys who have a doubt. It is not the money that matters, but the joy of winning. Incidently I have put in more years in this hobby than the age of most of the members.. Same stands for Sanjay. We participated not for the money but to set benchmarks for youngsters to start building quality models.Since one forum member had posted that previous year winners should not be eligible, I was taken aback. In real life can competition be just wished away.

prabal276

TO akshay:
aur agar apne ready made plane tod diya jo 13 ya 14 hagar ka nuksan hoga lekin agar apne ek scratch build to giraya to bas electronic nikalo aur 700 rupye me naya plane bana ke udao...
THERE ARE HARDLY ANY OF US WHO FLY ALL READYMADES...
WE SCRATCH BUILD

girishsarwal

Quoteif you can make scratch things fly its a prize for your self.
Point established well. Good to see the spark, so what are you making for these sweeps? Nothing is rigged here.

Go makers... wishing loads momentum to all participants.

Cooling period....  Two members have been banned temporarily for 1 day for excessive use of non-English posts.

To the above discussion, note these....

1.  The "competition" (if any) is to JUST make people BUILD.  There is some added incentive to doing scratch build. This is NOT about innovation !  There are ton's of college competitions where you can go do that.

2.  Whether you agree with me or not, I want someone who started yesterday to have the almost the same chances of winning as someone who has started doing this before I was born.

3.  Building more models does NOT guarantee winning, as Mr. Prasad seems to suggest. It does increase the odds of winning.

4.  The biggest hole in Mr. Prasad's vision is this.  Say we make this a "innovation/perfection competition".  What will happen is that 2 or 3 master builders will start posting builds which are out of this world, at which point everyone else (especially newcomers) will conclude that there is no point in participating. That is exactly what I do NOT want to see happen !

5.  As for akshay550, he just seems to need a bit of introspection.  Knowing nothing about the person, I may be over judgmental here for which I apologize in advance ! The issue seems to be the inability to handle failures or missed opportunities, which I am sure is a skill everyone achieves somewhere along the way in the journey of life.  So let us stop discussing this, as I am 100% sure about the fairness of what I intended and achieved last time, which I am keen to replicate this time also.

6. I agree with Mr Prasad that an innovation competition would help bring out higher quality results. Such competitions are also needed for the betterment of this hobby. I am not convinced that doing it as an online activity is the way to do it, and RCI may not be the right platform for something like this.  It needs to be an on the ground activity with bigger prizes, a very good jury, and probably conducted by some entity like AMAI or an LHS.

Let us get back to what matters, which is to start building...

Correctly said Mr Amwar. Lets all get down building - simple or complex, slowly or at break neck speed. Just build what you love to build and share your joy of building with the RCI community. Currently I am in the process of cleaning and rearranging my little hobby room/space after months of neglect. Once complete, I will be building a model I would love to build. I know I will not be able to maiden it by 15th Aug and therfore not qualify for the sweepstakes. But surely I will start the build and post the details as I go along. And yes, I have a few unfinished projects which were stuck up since last year and need to be completed.

So guys, gear up and show your passion for the hobby rather than squabble over prize money.

rastsaurabh

Hello Guys .....

I love this hobby..... but not getting enough time to participate in this year Sweeps....

Anwar I still have the Futaba 7c ( perfectly working condition ) from 2014 Sweeps.

Just wanted to let you guys know I am still doing scratch building and flying, though not too active on the forum.

All the best to all scratchies.

sanjayrai55

Surabh - stop eating. You will save enough time for modelling

rastsaurabh

Sir,
Thanks for morale boosting. But that much time is too less to make models which fly.

prasad.chodankar

It seems like my intentions were misunderstood by Mr Rai. I only meant to point out two things.
1. A competition brings out better builds
2. More number of builds (with or without attention to perfection) does result in improved chances of winning, but in no way guarantees it.

As some one with deep concern for the need for innovation in our country, I was only trying to point out the need for possibly a separate "innovation" type of competition.  I felt RC India would be a good platform for it. But seeing some responses, that may not be true.  In any case, this is all I meant.

Perhaps pioneers do what they think best for the hobby.

1. 40-50 years ago, one Mr Suresh Kumar, owner of India Hobby Centre, used to preside over SMAE (India), and ran annual competitions in at least Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay and Madras. He was in many ways the father of aeromodelling in India. After he passed away IHC and SMAE seem to have vanished (Ravi and Rishi, where are you? Do you even see RCI? Many well wishers here.)

2. Many years later comes one Mr Anwar who starts an online forum called RCI.
Whatever others may think, my opinion is that after Mr Suresh Kumar, this was the next landmark event for aeromodelling in India.

Pioneers do what they think best for the hobby. They have every right.
Anyone can criticise.
But it needs a pioneer to offer a meaningful alternative.

Many fields are still available for a pioneer to sponsor new competitions like:
1. RC Precision Aerobatics
2. RC 3D
3. Pylon racing like the Red Bull races
4. Scale models (small)
5. Scale (1/4 scale and above)
6. DLG
7. Free flight in various categories.
And a dozen others.

Criticising is easy.
Pioneering is not so easy!
My request to critics, please be constructive and open up a new field

Mr. Anwar bhai can I use regional language newspaper as verification???

anwar

Sure. Please be sure to show enough of the news paper in one pic, and another close up where the date is readable.

A noble intention, Mr. Chodankar.

Nonetheless, I really hope to see you participating in the sweepstakes, and, like most (if not all) the participants make the best model your resources permit. The loudest applause will be from me.

Good luck
