UPDATE:  This one is complete ! Please visit the RC India 2K Sweepstakes !

We are very happy to annouce the RC India 1K Sweepstakes !

We are going to hold a sweepstakes/lottery where one lucky winner will get an Esky Lama V4 ready-to-fly helicopter shipped to him.  The winner will be chosen from among the people who post the first 1000 posts on this forum (hence the name 1K sweepstakes!).

I am working on lining up sponsorship for the same, and have made some headway.  If any hobby reseller is interested in sponsoring, please let me know via PM/email.  As a payback, sponsors will have a higher percent of free ads display on this forum. We plan on having 2K, 3K etc sweepstakes after this  ;D

If you have any used items in good condition that you would like to donate towards this series of sweepstakes, please let us know.

I do sincerely hope that some newcomer to the hobby wins this.

Please spread the word !

Note that we will pick the winner as a number between 1 and 1K, and the person who made that post will be the winner. So the more you are active on the forum, the better your chances for winning !  8-)

Thanks again to RC-For-All for being the primary sponsor.

Rules :

1) RC India's decision will be final on all matters related to this sweepstakes.

2) The winner will be chosen from among posts 1 though 1000. A number between 1 and 1000 will be randomly picked, and whoever made that post will be chosen the winner (subject to rest of the rules mentioned here). The draw will be done as soon as we hit 1000 posts in total.

3) India RC administrator(s) and all hobby shops are excluded from the draw.  If their post comes up as the winner, the draw will be repeated until a suitable winner is found.

4) The winner details will be published here, and the item will be shipped via courier to the address provided by the winner.

The proposed product is similar to this : http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=121_21&products_id=126

I guess mode 1 is the norm in India.

I wanted to thank Sai @ RC-For-All for coming forward as the primary sponsor of this effort  :)

Yes, it is an incentive for people to interact more.  It is also a sincere effort, with the whole-hearted support of the various RC stores who sponsor such events, to make this hobby available to more people.

I expect more people to join the forum, as soon as it ranks better in Google search results. It will take a little while. Until then, word-of-mouth publicity is what will let others know about this new avenue.

no Mode 2 used by many people.
But it is a matter of convenience.

RotorZone

I think there are more mode 2 flyers than mode 1, especially among electric fliers.

There are probably more mode 1 fliers in south India. What about a poll ?

We will just ask the winner, what mode he flies  ;D

It may cause some delay in getting the heli to him though.

A poll has been started !

When would this take place ? i mean do you have a date when you would select a winner ?

anwar

The winner will be chosen when we hit 1000 posts.  We are at around 300 now.  At this rate, we may hit that in about a month !

I do feel bad that I inflated the post count with my own posts (even though I am not participating).  But it is more fun to give it away sooner than later.  We will have another sweepstakes after this, and this time it will be an ARF airplane  ;)

How about having competitions like:

1. Best scratch built model

2. Fun fly - regional

We can come up with more ideas for sweepstakes that actually include building, flying.

anwar

While these are great ideas, there are practical problems.  The primary issue is that it restricts participation to a limited audience, like people who are interested in a particular activity (like building scratch models) or to a regional group.

We want to do raffles that everyone can participate (except the forum admins and hobby shops), with minimal effort.  All one needs to do is to be a part of this forum's community, and help one another through forum interaction (which will be carried over to real-life in their local flying fields).

Your suggestions are great for "local" implementation.  In a place like Bangalore where there are 25+ active fliers, a scratch build competition would work great.  Here in Qatar, we have those about once a year, as reported in the thread below :

Anwar ,
The Solar powered Car looks very interesting  any further details .

I didn't get a chance to meet up with him yet.  You can contact him via PM on the other forum.

A solar plane that requires no batteries at all would get really boring after flying it forever (or until the TX power runs out! )  ;D

Correct, It will be great if local flyers and hobby shops could come together to have these competitions - that will help promote the hobby more and make flyers and modelers truly enjoy the hobby and compete healthily.

No issues man,  ;D
It is a rule of thumb that The "RC Glider flyer tend to be MOde-1" But there is no such thing.
I have seen Glider flyer's with Mode-2.

It is a personal test.

J Mohan

I have joined this form today. I have been a modeller for many many years off and on.

It is the first time I have seen  a representation forum for this hobby and am overjoyed.

I wish the best of everything to the sponsors of this lucky draw

Warm regards to everyone

very well thought of..keep up the  good work..

Anwar,

The participant should post in this thread, means, just to be active by replying, right? But I could not find 300 here, it shows only 19. Does that means, the participant should start a new thread or post a reply in this thread?

Awaiting your reply...//MEROG

I meant the total number of posts in the whole forum, which you can see at the bottom of the main page when you are logged in (along with details like who was online in the past 24 hours etc).

You can be part of any thread/discussion in this forum (or start your own thread) to take part in the sweepstakes.

Now we are close to 700 posts total, so only 300 to go before the lucky winner is chosen.

could u illustrate graphically on a daily basis the top ten leaders. it would be fun to see the rush then. ;D

akash

great initiative :) it would be great if i win lama, as i am keen in getting into the hobby. i get fascinated when ever i see a helicopter, thinking how will a huge piece of a metal can fly defying gravity, tat too vertically up. so started to learn the fundamentals of helicopter and rc helicopters from various sites in net. tats how i came to know this forum and even the lucky lama ;D

premvijay

i am also a begineer to RC helis, but i have heard from several people and read reviews stating that the E-SKy Lama IV is a perfect heli for a begineer. Great initiative of rcindia to introduce begineers to RC hobby by sponsering the perfect begineer heli Cheers to rcindia
