As a part of welcoming 2010, we are offering another sweepstakes.

As suggested in the opinion poll (http://www.rcindia.org/free-donations-and-sweepstakes/prize-options-for-rc-india-sweepstakes/), we would like offer RC India members who make at least 10 posts between January 1 and March 31 of 2010 a chance to win a full electric combo consisting of the following.

1) A TowerPro Motor/ESC/Prop combo

2) Three Turnigy micro servos

3) One 800mah 2s lipo

If anyone wants to add anything to the prize offered by sponsoring it, please let me know (like an ARF foamie  8-) ?)

Just to clarify, we are not providing a foamie, just the electronics.  The winner will have you source a charger, receiver and transmitter, and then build or buy a foamie  :P

I come up with a list of all the people who have 10 or more posts in that period (based on server time, which is US CDT).  Let us say that gives us a list of 50 people, whose logins are sorted in alphabetical order.  Then I use http://www.random.org to pick a number between 1 and 50, then the person in the list in that position is the winner.  If it is a shop owner OR if the winner prefers to pass it on to someone else, then I pick another number.

Anwar, ankur is right. If it is alphabetical, it ll be a bit difficult to get a chance. So how about the list is based on seniority, I mean based on their joining date in our forum? (But not based on their number of posts!).

I refer you back to the basics of probability, and I believe random.org is fair ;) When I pick a number between 1 and 50 (as an example), each number has an equal chance !

Hey random.org works based on the atmospheric sounds to pick a number 8-). Hey on the web we got too many randomness generating programs by so many companies. But all of them work based on some logic like your script. As the random.org's randomness comes from the atmospheric noise, it got popularity.

the atmospheric noise gen..  is not good
i prefer u use a generator using such a script using jumbled up names

Ankur, if the poll is done at night then there will be less noise so your chances to win are great!  >:D

I just checked it now and its generating more numbers below 10, and out of the 40 clicks I did I got 1, 2, two times each and 4 and 9 one time. you are still not happy? ;)

Mmmmm... then only thing to make it done is to write all the names on bits of paper, pour in a bowl, mix them, turn the head back and pick one. ;D

Ankur - You need to read up on "pseudo-random generators", use of "seeds" in random number generation etc, and the general trustworthiness of that site.

Not at all. In fact to start with because I son have chance to visit the LHS which is couple of hours from where I stay, I already ordered the first batch of kits online... For paints, yes, the action is pending. But the project is not suffering  :thumbsup:
