Hi everyone
I am Planning to build a power model and have taken an an engine from an ex hobbyist
It says 15cc and has the letters written AP
it has book let etc and has the web address mentioned
WWW.globalhobby.com
here is the link to the add
http://ap.globalhobby.com/
Now My question
it this vintage model or available elsewhere and
what kind of engine mount it requires

Thats a great engine - its not 15 cc but .15 ci or about 2.5cc

runs well , throttles well - needs a bit of nitromethane - about 10%

Uses beam mount

An advantage is -  the exhaust can be in any direction you choose.

use a 8"x6" prop or something close.

Overall an excellent engine

rajaram

so will  this engine fit into any kind of RC plane
like i have a balsa model (yet to be ready) which says 114 cm wing span and 15-25cc glow or 3.5 cc diesel
i am confused  :headscratch:

Not still in nitro but this seems to be a 0.15 Nitro engine. Your Plane is around 46" WS, for which you would at least need a 0.46 or 0.52 OS/ASP engine.
Your 0.15 (2.5 cc  Nitro engine) would be way below power to even takeoff .

Not sure... if the model says 15 to 25 size glow, then this engine would be "just enough" to meet the low end (15 size).  I have seen light gliders with large wingspans, but are powered by smaller engines (less than 40 size).

your engine will be ok for the plane - it will have adequate performance - only thing
check your mounting as your engine is not of the standard configuration

rajaram

thanks for the help guys
but i am in search for an engine mount which can accommodate the engine
any suggestions  and also where it is available? ???

This is the closest I could find in a quick search.  It says .20 size as the minimum, but may work for your 0.15 too.

Did not think about checking RCForAll for glow stuff :)  That would be the correct match !

It appears to be a "free flight" model and not one designed for R/C.

Sushil bhai... wondering what prompted the above comment ?  I see a throttle lever on the carb, wouldn't that be enough of an indication for intended RC use ?

I was referring to the AIRPLANE and not the engine. Maybe my eyes are tired but I really cannot see any lever/linkage in the picture on the airplane carton!

Ah.. that solves one part of it, I thought you were referring to the engine.

About the plane, same question.  Are you looking at the lack of control surfaces in the picture ?  Can't they be added in any case ?

I'm sure they could, albeit with some surgery, minor or major.

But the main point is that these were designed to be light and I wonder if they would fly as well with the additional weight of the radio set up.

And my comment on it being a "free flight" model was  based purely on experience with such planes, many, many years ago!

Sir,
That model would fly really well when appendages (albeit within sane sizes) are added in form of elevator and rudder. Ailerons would be pretty much ineffective due to small size, they would rather lead to aileron reversal.
A pretty much good three channel craft it would turn out to be, and given the design mini RC equipment specially servos would be perfect

Quite possibly. But I would still have reservations considering the size of motor.

And, on a different note, I wonder if a beginner would have the skill level to even attempt the modifications, which would also have to include servo trays, linkages, etc.

Sushil sir,
I have an Aurora School Marm which is more or less the same dimension and with an AP 09 engine it is a nice flyer. This one being my third school marm, the previous two were powered by an AM 2.5 cc and Sharma 1.5 cc diesels on two channel controls.
The current one has three for throttle as well.

Points taken.

And, please, do not call me "sir"!

Thanks for your support guys
i finally build the Model along with Sandeep sir Pusparaj and rajsigma
But the weight of the model was a bit more  :banghead: :banghead:
Model could not get the thrust and hence did not take off  :banghead:
Anyways here's the video of the AP engine and my Model THE RED ANGEL

I had a similar experience way back i had a .15 size engine but the model was a bit heavy.. try using this engine on a glider & you will have a blast

sushil_anand

What is the AUW of the model? Is the CG correct? You will have problems lifting off with a forward CG.
