Hi All,

I have had this Aurora engine for a few years and would be grateful if someone could advise me on how to start it. Also is this engine for a control line plane or a Rc plane?

Thanking you in anticipation

I think its .75 cc for free flight . its very successful engine of  aurora  company.

Thank you for your reply! What will be the approximate value of this engine? I have never used it and it looks in mint condition.

@Adel,

This is a Kumar/Mills 0.75cc diesel engine. Really old tech. 1940s.
Every aeromodeller in India had one in the 1960/70s.
But I haven't seen anyone flying one in over 30 years.

Best known British engine till the original company (Mills Brothers) folded.
Mr Suresh Kumar (owner of Aurora Models, India's Hobby Centre) did great service to the aeromodelling world by buying up the designs and tooling for the Mills 0.75 and 1.3, and manufacturing them here in India.

Unfortunately the Indian Mills got a bad reputation abroad for breaking it's crankshaft, and is often called a 'Curry Mills'.
(Got a lot of angry responses when I posted on international fora that I'd not seen a single crankshaft break in India in 50 years)

I'm glad I have one. Never run, oiled and in a ziplock bag for 30+ years

If you wish to start it, you'll need
1. An engine mount
2. An 8x4 prop (NOT electric)
3. Fuel. Ether, kerosene and castor oil. 50:25:25, or 33:33:33. Or in between.

But if you start it even once, the value goes downhill!

What is it worth?
Rs3000-5000 if you can find a buyer in UK, AUS or NZ.

However if you'll accept Rs 1500, I'll take it, for old times sake, as a companion to mine!

Regards
Iyer

@K K Iyer,

Thank you for your detailed reply and offer! The engine which I have has also been kept in a ziplock bag for over 15 years and never run. Hopefully in the future I will try to start it. Also I think I'll keep the engine as 1.5k is a bit low for me.

Thanking you once again for your offer,

As per my discussion in last Dec with Mr Rishi Kumar owner of India's hobby center kolkata...they are most probably going to wrap up their business by end of this month. If some engines are still left their..... last chance to grab if someone needs to. I have got his number.
