Didnt see a 2T gasoline thread. What the best fully synthetic 2T available in the country for use with 91 octane fuel? Price is not an issue because the use is very minimal, about 50ml a week only.
Also whats the recommended lubricant ratio for a 23cc petrol engine? Manual says 25:1, ie 40ml for a litre. I seen some flyers using much lesser and it works for them.
Dunno about your first question. Regarding your second query I assume you are using this on a land vehicle (do not read furthter if you are not).
In my knowledge you can get away with lesser quantity of lube in aero engines as there is adequate cooling due to prop wash which does not happen on land vehicles.
I use 20ml of Klotz Gasoline Oil with every liter of petrol for my DA!

Castrol India also sells fully synthetic 2T oil Rs 700/900ml.
Oh! No! We should not even think of using locally available brands. These are only for masses not for us. Only the costliest import of synthetic oil would do for mixing in our gas procured from next door petrol pump. Sometimes I wonder why do some people not import even the gas. But then it must be because most of the crude is imported and hence these people are assured of quality. ??? ??? ???
Castrol is an international brand, no harm in trying ,if it mix well with methanol it will do the job.
At present it is only marketed by Castrol India , not manufactured.(Even if it were manufactured in India it would be of internatinal quality)
I will buy some for my motorcycle and keep some for my rc engine and try it.
Crude oil is just a raw material. I think Indian refineries are doing a very good job and our petrol is of international quality so dont worry.

Jitender, I hope you did not mean mixing Castrol 2T with methanol. It simply would not blend in. I am sure you know this - Lubricant for glow fuel is castor oil, not Castrol 2T.

I think you are running your engine at 50:1 ratio which seems to be very less oil. May be that is the manufacturers spec. If I were you, I would use 40:1 which is good (and recommended) for most larger pertrol engines for vehicles. Given the facts that our engines rev more than the vehicles I would even go further to make the rato 35:1 to preserve the engine life.

And Manish, yes I am on the same page. I wonder why people go behind exhotic names when the same stuff is available (if not better) in India itself. The normal 2T oil that you get in the petrol pumps itself is enough for our gas engines. Do some research around the different brands of 2T and know what are the additives and what benifits they have.. I am sure one can easily find a 2T oil that matches our requirement at a fraction of the cost.
I ran my 26cc with normal Catrol 2T oil from the pump. It worked fine for me.. but then I only bench ran the engine for 5 times... People with more experience on this can give us more details.

Castrol does have a lubricant for methanol - Castrol M. But I have never found it locally.

But you must understand that we are talking about something totaly different ,that is synthetic oil
which Castrol India supplies, Klots is not the only company which has it.Go to any Castrol dealer or even a scooter/motorcycle spare shop it will be there,it comes in a metal can, and as I said earlier
if it mix it will do the job.
Why castor oil and not 2t (if it did mix)
because 2t would burn and hence not provide any lubrication,so a oil which will not burn at the high temp is required and castor oil has a very high flash point hence does not burn but provides lubrication.( must have seen most of the castor put in the fuel comes out of the muffler.
Synthetic oil also has a high flash point but still not as good as
castor oil.(that is why we never use 100% synthetic oil,always some amount of castor oil is also added.)
Even in oils/fuels sold specificly for rc purpose contains some amount of castor oil along with synthetic oil even if not mentioned on the packing.
Castrol M is castor oil---best for Rc if you can get it(As it does not have that sticky gum)

The synthetic oil that you are refereing above is used for 2 stroke engines or 4 stroke engines?
Also, from what you said, I belive it should be having a higher flash point. If so, it should be good for our glow engines as well.

Yes, that is if it mix with methanol,it should but can not be sure until try.
It is given on Castrol India site that it is for high performance 4stroke bikes.

Castrol and other synthetic lubes, commonly available, are mineral based and will NOT mix with methanol. What is needed are glycol based synthetics. Klotz is the only one I know that is not difficult to obtain.
Why use synthetic oil when India is the largest producer of castor oil and is so cheap,and is still the best engine oil.
I mix local castor oil and methanol and use it after 2-3 months,during this time the gum precipitates and settles at the bottom ,decant and use.

I was looking for a Gasoline 2T oil not castor oil. As per experts, fully synthetic works best with this CY engine. I think I have found what I need. Its going to be either Klotz or Motul.
Reviving an old thread, but what were the conclusions drawn here on the best lubricant available in India for Gas engines ?
As I break in my DLE 55 with Lawnboy Ashless, I would like to know of what the lubricant of choice should be for further use.
Jitender, I've got an RC car with a glow engine and am trying to mix my own fuel.
Is there any harm in using plain Castor oil bought from a local chemist? If so, what percentage should I use.
Do you recommend using any synthetic oil as well in the mix?
And is Nitro really required for basic beginner driving?
