You can get Tornado fuel in Bangalore.  Not sure what mixes are available.

The best thing is to get a gas engine ;)   Those RCGF ones are a good choice for occasional flying while you are back in Kerala... my brother is planning to do the same.

It is available at Model Art.  Contact details are here : http://www.rcindia.org/rc-outlets-and-resellers/mega-list-of-all-rc-outlets-in-india/

I am confused about the gas engine part. With the new 15cc gas engine (like in this thread http://www.rcindia.org/fuel-and-engines/rcg-26cc-gas-engine/) which can even be fitted on 40 size planes, there is no real disadvantage to using gas even on smaller models.  It seems like the days are gone when gas made sense only for 50cc and higher.  We never tried hovering the 15cc gas engine (YET!), but they perform quite well on the 60 size planes we were testing on.  Obviously there is a huge advantage in terms of fuel availability.

hey Thanks for that list of outlets. Tell me one thing anwar I have no experiance with this Engine Make. Are they reliable ? I have only used OS and DA sofar. I really want to have your feel on these brands. And spark plug ? Wherewill you find one for a 26cc size. Where do you fly in kerala ? I have plans to come to qatar next month and was there in march. May be we can spend some time over a cup of coffee ?? :)

We have found them to be working very well so far.  It is best if you can pick up some NGK CM-6 plugs from Dubai itself (they are available for QR14 which is Rs.170 locally here in Qatar), and the place to look for them are shops that sell generators and their parts.

In Kerala, we fly in the school grounds near our house, or go to Christ College Irinjalakuda to fly with Santhosh.

It would be fun to meet up and fly while you are in Qatar.  Do let me know next time :)

Dear Anwar,
Thank you for the spark plug size, I am using NGK CM6 for my 50cc DA. But the prize in qatar is much better. Here in dubai they incresed the price to AED 40/-. I will let you know when I plan my next trip to Qatar. Mind telling me the shop details for NGK plugs in qatar?.  I spoke to Mr. Santhosh yesterday as well. Great to find so helpful friends around.
Thanks & regards,
Manoj

In the RC shops, they are QR30 or above here in Qatar too !  Seems like RC is considered a "premium" activity by default ;)  So things that are available in their native environments are marked up significantly when the "RC" label is stamped. You need to find shops that sell generator stuff  in Dubai, and prices will be comparable.

Here is a map to the shop that sells NGK plugs in Doha :  Google Map of NGK plugs shop in Doha, Qatar

Rc Shops in dubai sell them for AED 70.  They are AED 40 from local market. I will ask my brother get one pack from Qatar. Thanks Anwar...

You can get it shipped from Delhi, that is one option.  You can try to get it from Bangalore, I don't know if they ship, so someone will have to do it for you or you have to pick it up in person.  Finally, get in touch with the said folks who are already flying and they may know of more recent sources.

I'm not aware of anybody flying nitro in kerala other than prakkat. If you can pick up from Bangalore, will be glad to help you source it. I don't want to get into shipping of hazardous goods.

I am pretty sure the Aerosports folks (MRK Menon et al) are also into nitro, although I heard that they are moving more into electric these days due to fuel being one big issue.

Gassers and electrics seem easiest for now.

When they started their operations from Trivandrum I met them once. They are using nitro fuel. I am still not sure from where they source it.

Not many, unless one is breaking in new engines.  What I have seen (in my relatively short experience with gas engines) is that the chances of plugs going out are high during break in.  And we (my brother mostly) have been through a few engines in a span of couple of months.

And the other reason is incorrect needle settings.

The rich oil mixture also tend to destroy the spark plug fast. I normaly change the mix from 50:1 to 40:1 in summer for my DA engine as they have recomended (I am using Mobil 2T) And this is the time I have problems with plugs.
