hey i just wanted to ask that if i can brew my own fuel with only methanol and castor oil without any % of nitro methane and run it on my rc buggy ?? ive heard that its ok for plane engine but what abt land vehicles ?? what will be the performance difference ?? in speed ?? lifetime ?? etc ...
thanks in advance  ;D

you can definitely run the buggy with it but it will have lots of nagging problems like unstable tuning, difficult start, lower speeds etc....so my suggestion is invest in nitro....

Plane will run O.K. without nitro  but cars - a real pain without nitro

On a less serious note, I wonder what will happen if you put, say, 5~10% Ether in Methanol/Castor?

hmm could u specify the meaning of OK over here ?? and I just wanted to ask what's the rate of nitromethane ?? and where do I get it noida ?? also I heard u need some kinda license to purchase it ?? is it true ??  sorry for asking so many questions but buying 4l fuel for 2k bucks is alot  lol :p!!

I have run Nitro plane engines, as have many other people, for years without any problem. In 1990, I just told a supplier of Industrial & Lab Chemicals in Faridabad I wanted Nitromethane, and he got me....that time, Rs. 1000 per litre (G.R.)

buy the fuel. especially for cars, you need nitro and stable tune. cars engines hit 30-40k rpms, getting a tune with homebrew fuel with/without nitro is very hard. plane engines you can

What engine are you using? If its a cheap one and you are just bashing around, go ahead with the brew. Else get imported. Not worth the effort.

In my initial flying days I did not have access to readymade fuel or nitro so I used methanol and castor oil only. the plane did run but the engine is unpredictable. It will not be tuned all the time. It cut off suddenly making it risky so finally I shifted to using nitro. It can be obtained from lab chem suppliers which supply school colleges etc. Also if you are using only castor oil as lubricant be very sure to clean up the engine thoroughly before storing it for longer periods as otherwise you will have a locked engine as the residue turns in to some solid gooey stuff which is difficult to clean. Now I mix my fuel using Klotz oil for lubrication..

OK thanks people :) .. u helped me make my decision .... I've decided to go for readymade fuel. ... BTW how much time will a tank of 75cc in my buggy and a tank of 150cc in my plane(I have a 2 stroke engine a .46 one) last ?? ... once I collect enough money, I'll sell my old nitro plant engine and buy a ngh 9cc ....BTW will the ngh 9cc work on my calmato 40 and phoenix scanner ??.... thank people ..u all helped a lot :D

I think that question does not have a definitive answer. Too many variables. Fuel consumption will depend on the way you run the engine. If its any help the 4.6cc engine on my Savage lasts 10 min of bashing on a 160cc tank. (20% nm)
Terrain? If I cant Slash it, I'll Savage it!!
