Exactly. I am not aware of air filters on OS engines, except for the foam/sponge type filters on car engines (on the carb air intake).  These are definitely fuel clunks.

The closest I can find is : http://www.paylessflymore.com/proddetail.asp?prod=G1/E/0023

The one you are looking for is out of stock : http://www.paylessflymore.com/proddetail.asp?prod=G1/E/0022 .  You can check with them when they will get new stock.

get a piece of chamois leather - should be available in any good auto shop

this will do a far better job of filtering fuel

A filter is a filter is a filter - don't fall for the hype

or buy one that is used in bikes inline from the tank to the carburetor - should
cost you about Rs 40/-

and filter the fuel before you put it in the aeroplane tank - you should'nt  need a filter
in your fuel pickup clunk.

Saikat - Can you post pictures or more details about how you use the leather piece as a filter ?  That should be beneficial to everyone.

Yes, but where can I buy it in India ?

Laldenga - First you have to clarify what you are looking for !  When I suggested the clunk filter, you said that is what you are looking for, and I posted a possible source.  Now Manoj suggested something completely different, and you seem to be saying that is what you are looking for !  So please clarify what you are looking for (or what you are trying to achieve).

Assuming you are talking about the "air cleaner" that Manoj suggested, normally people do not use air filters on airplane engines, they are mostly used on car engines.

Similar products are available in many car stores, please check out the list of Indian stores yourself :

Most online stores have a decent search function, just search for "filter".

You dont need a air filter for the carb - the air in N.E is clean enough (unless your field is dusty and you
do long rolling take offs)

If you are facing problems its more likely dirt in the fuel - assuming the whole
gamut of other parameters are ok

I agree with anwar. We fly in desert and I have never used or seen some one using it on planes. Yes its required for cars as its always exposed to dusty condition. :)

I dont think its a good idea to use that air filter since its not ment for the air plane engine.. It may cause the engine to stop and you may loose the model. Its clearly mentioned for cars.

This is the one for airplanes. Different sizes are available.

I have been using them on airplanes ever since I lost one engine to a small stone kicked up by the prop turbulence and somehow found its way in through the carb.

anwar

Wow !  We fly in a dusty/stony desert, and NOBODY uses them  :o

I hope that was the worst thing that happened to you that week... talking about tough luck !

It was a freak incident indeed, there is an old thread with pics on the other forum. Props kicking up small stones is something that happens every time when we tune engines at jakkur. So far that incident remains the only time a stone landed inside the carb at jakkur. So probability is low, but it is not zero. It is one of those things you think "can't happen to me" until it happens.
