Pic 1. How did you make that cowl :headscratch:
Pic 2. Never knew what was possible with coro/balsa/aluminium tube combo. Wow!

Thanks Iyer Saheb

I guess the cowl build is a rhetorical question. However, I used bits and pieces of scrap Balsa, lots of cyano, and even more sandpaper coupled with muscle and sweat  ;) . The painting was done with a brush and ordinary Asian Paints Enamel, with light sanding between coats

I "discovered" a scrapped TV H type antenna from the 70's lying around, and got some 9 mm tubing from it. Used it in my Piper Cub too, for wing struts. Just flatten the ends in a vice. Also, I plan to use some for my Wind Sock shaft :D

Started on the Bottom Wing, which is a fair bit more laborious. The aileron width is 2 1/2" so to prevent it flexing in flight, the normal corro aileron style had to be modified. I decided to go in for a built-up aileron

Thanks Dominic

With the construction phase over, the next will be the assembly and finishing, starting with the rather difficult alignment of wings/tail/engine

Setting the wings - parallel to each other, and square with the stab

The aileron horns presented a new problem. At the location where the horn is the sited, the aileron thickness is 18 mm. If one adds up the thickness of the horn base plus the retainer a screw of 27 mm is needed. Normally a button head self tapping screw is used, but at that length, the easily available (with me ;) ) screws have a top diameter of 5 mm. So, I drilled and tapped a M3 thread into the retainer  ;D

Wing struts from Cycle Spoke, with a metal clevis at one end, and a bend at the other. The wire is embedded into a 12 mm Balsa dowel, fastened with epoxy, and secured with heat shrink tubing
