Hello sir ,
Your builds are amazing. :hatsoff:
This combination of coro and balsa makes planes cheap and look more colorful.....
This is a request ...
Can you please put light on how to convert these models plans available in balsa into coro.....?
And how to check CG, Power plant, tips ,tricks, etc...
Thank you Pranav
I think that will need a separate series of posts!
If there is enough interest, I certainly will do it
Yes sir .... (:|~
Waiting eagerly..
Awesome job. Correx is such an awesome material for modelling. Had many models built from this marvellous material. Fantastic project. Well done!
Thank you Dominic. Still quite a long way to go before she's in the air :D
coro sheet bends after few flights , i would be good if you would have done the whole fuse with balsa , this looks awesome by the way.
Thank you for that observation Vineet
I've built over 40 Corro Models, and never had a sheet bend. If you have had that issue something is wrong with your construction technique. Suggest you take a look here : http://www.rcindia.org/rc-people/builds-i-have-posted-on-rci/
This corro model has done over 350 sorties; nope, no corro bending after a few flights

Had been busy, got some build time in last night and this morning

You have some great skills, sanjay sir.
Never thought of those small wood at wing tip and that semicircle at the center of the wing.
Thanks Manoj. The semi-circular part is actually part of the design ;D. Maybe so the Pilot can come out without banging his head on the wing? :giggle: :giggle:
:giggle: :giggle:
With your increasing builds & usage of Corro; Govt. should now introduce Luxury tax on Coroplast.
:violent: :violent:
@sanjayrai55
Sir,
Refer reply#15
Pic 1. How did you make that cowl :headscratch:
Pic 2. Never knew what was possible with coro/balsa/aluminium tube combo. Wow!
Regards
Thanks Iyer Saheb
I guess the cowl build is a rhetorical question. However, I used bits and pieces of scrap Balsa, lots of cyano, and even more sandpaper coupled with muscle and sweat ;) . The painting was done with a brush and ordinary Asian Paints Enamel, with light sanding between coats
I "discovered" a scrapped TV H type antenna from the 70's lying around, and got some 9 mm tubing from it. Used it in my Piper Cub too, for wing struts. Just flatten the ends in a vice. Also, I plan to use some for my Wind Sock shaft :D
Started on the Bottom Wing, which is a fair bit more laborious. The aileron width is 2 1/2" so to prevent it flexing in flight, the normal corro aileron style had to be modified. I decided to go in for a built-up aileron

Thanks Dominic
With the construction phase over, the next will be the assembly and finishing, starting with the rather difficult alignment of wings/tail/engine
Setting the wings - parallel to each other, and square with the stab

The aileron horns presented a new problem. At the location where the horn is the sited, the aileron thickness is 18 mm. If one adds up the thickness of the horn base plus the retainer a screw of 27 mm is needed. Normally a button head self tapping screw is used, but at that length, the easily available (with me ;) ) screws have a top diameter of 5 mm. So, I drilled and tapped a M3 thread into the retainer ;D

Wing struts from Cycle Spoke, with a metal clevis at one end, and a bend at the other. The wire is embedded into a 12 mm Balsa dowel, fastened with epoxy, and secured with heat shrink tubing

THAT IS LOOKING AWESOME sir!!!
remember to put a nimbu mirchi for nazar protection before maidening this beauty :giggle: :giggle:
Thanks Harshit
Nimbu hai mere paas, Mirchi aap laana :D ;D
Sure sir!!! I can bring full puja ki thali too for this model ;D :giggle:
Nice going sir!
A beautiful craft taking shape........
Nimbu, Mirchi et all will not work. You need to propiate the God Dionysus
Besides propitiating all the Gods, the build should be true; and that sir, in corro is always iffy ;D
Call it the pleasure of corro - you are never entirely sure how the model will fly ;)

No words sir.....
Its a beautiful model and good use of Coro, Balsa & Mind.
And Nitro on top of these material is excellent.
Only thing I can add is just color the fuse coro to the cowling color.
regds
Saurabh
Thanks Saurabh

TOP JOB! Would give you a hug if I could. Great enthusiasm and perseverance to get it done. Please check everything before first flight. i.e. correct movement of control surfaces. I want to hear that the maiden flight was perfect. AND "fly 3 mistakes too high" as my instructor used to tell me many years ago. GOOD LUCK!
Dominic; thanks a million ;D
High praise indeed coming from a veteran of your ilk :salute:
Excellent build sir .
Thanks Manoj :)
Testing out on ground - to check tank, plumbing vibration etc. Also, to try out my new starting table and Caddy Box ;)

Who cares about that video where the pics are absent? Soundtrack is interesting though...
I'm still admiring the still pics in previous posts
What a pleasure to see some RC/aero stuff.
(Tired of discussion of import issues.)
Today's good deed - got a friend's old OS FX 25 up and running, even though it meant giving him one of my OS needles!
Sir, please ask your numerous chelas to post some stuff relating to RC/Aero...
Regards
(Exchanged msgs but couldn't meet Dominic during last month in UK)
Iyer sir,
Let my exams finish. I have some big things planned.
😁
You were in UK? I thought you were in US negotiating to purchase Tower Hobbies ;)
Awesome build sir. beautiful. will eagerly wait for a good flight video. The one posted is not doing justice to the beautifully built model. {:)} {:)}
Thank you Sandy sir :salute: Will try for a better video soon
