Though I wanted to go bigger, due to transportation as well as hangar limitations, decided to go the 30cc size again. Order placed last week and fingers crossed was hoping it clears Saudi Customs. Guess what, it did :D
nice - I have the silver version. Are you going electric or gas?
Thanks flatspin_king, Its going to be gas. I will rip the 35ra out from the extra 260 and ordered some Savox 1258TGs. Work is keeping me busy from building this beauty. Soon I have to find time.
Congratulations Sameer for the new addition in your hangar {:)}
Thanks Anilesh :)
@king: I saw from your other post that you have decided to go gas on her. Have you done that? If so would you please share the outcome with us (:|~ I wanted to get an OS 33GT for her, then decided to take the 35RA from the extra. Since am not that happy with the throttle response (though its some what good enough but had couple of close calls during low rollers and stuffs), I will be doing the Reed Valve mod this week and hope to see a change.
Yes I put an OS gt 33 on her - and it is amazing - instant (like electric) throttle response and crazy power! The only downside with the OS is that it has so much compression that it likes to start backwards - I tend to keep the throttle open a little bit during start up and it helps.
The 35 RA should be a great choice as well once you get it running well. I was not happy with the hinges that came with the kit - some broke when I deflected the control surface to its maximum - so I replaced them with Robart hinges. Just an FYI - your hinges might be fine. Other than that I would say make sure you use the white plastic screws that come with the ARF for the canopy hatch - I learnt the hard way - lost my hatch in the brush and had to spend $40 ordering a new one.
You are going to love this plane! (I also have the 3dhs 89 slick and it is unbelievable for 3d).
We have couple of OS engines at our field and its quite funny to see them starting backwards :giggle:
The 35ra was a pain initially but it has changed a bit after breaking in. Still I might go for the OS soon if I find some one to take the 35 from me. This is my first 3DHS air-frame and I am very excited! I have read the manual and it clearly states the additional plastic bolts are required for gassers. Thanks a lot for the heads-up ;) on this and the hinges. I was confused between the 71" slick and the 74" edge. Really wanted to try the slick but at the end decided for the edge due to the looks. If I go bigger (that requires an upgrade to my current ride and apartment), then I probably might go for the slick. Kindly do share pics and videos of your if possible.
Well couldnt resist, the battle is ON ;D
Stabs done ;D Rudder hinges pending.
Samdoesntlikespadsanymore?? :giggle: :giggle:
lol goodone dear! I do have plenty of plans in my mind but work keeps me busy. Thats why chose the easy way so that I could continue practicing 3D. Inbetween I do help new comers with projects like avispad, foamies etc.
Almost ready but I have to travel :( Maiden will be delayed another two weeks.
Maiden-ed successfully ;D

Congrats on your successful maiden - how do you like it now that you have flown it a few times?
Thanks dear for your kind words!
I had couple more flights on it and its amaaaaazing!!! Tons of fun ;D The DLE is still not that smooth at the low end so I was not comfortable bringing her down the deck. This week I tuned it to the limit of my ability and had some fun. The plane harriers by itself :o Sorry that I could not get a video of this week's flights but found couple pictures from our club's WhatsApp group. Mine is the one behind. Yesterday I did the reed valve mod on the DLE and hope to have smoother throttle next week (:|~
Once again thanks to all for the encouragement and support :salute:
Did the reeed valve mod on the DLE and the throttle response improved quite a bit. Later on changed to a 19x8 prop and it improved a lot more as the previous 20x6 was not giving crisp response.

sam
you have taken your flying to a whole new level,
could give you some pointers if you wish
Thanks Gusty Bhai :salute: And for pointers..... who would say no to you ;D Please do help so that me and other 3D beginners like me could benefit
Great Flying SAM.
Thanks Manoj :) for your kind words.
Gusty Bhai ;D , pointers... (:|~ (:|~ (:|~
nice flying
Thanks King
WOW.. amazing flying.. and i love this plane.. surfaces sizes are dream come true for every 3d pilot ..
Fantastic flying Sam {:)} {:)} {:)}. Loved your model.
PS : We all keep getting some. You need to give some pointers to Gusty for a change. :giggle:
@Alam: Just a humble effort to follow pilots like you dear ;D Thanks a lot for the kind words. You are spot on about the surfaces, the ELE is the size of a 50cc or more :giggle:
Sandyji, thanks a lot for your kind words ;D I wish I could be as good as many who has already commented here. :salute: to them all.
Congratulations Sameer for your new model. {:)} {:)}
Sam
KE is fine
As far as hover is concerned, you need to get a litlle more vertical, in pure vertical flight lift=zero. so if Lift=Zero there will be no stall, but once you are angled to the airflow with near full back elevator, she will wing drop (as she is doing in your video), this could be because of (a) Model being slightly nose heavy (b) stron head winds whereby in the vertical the model is drifting with the wind and you are wanting to stay in one position by dropping nose into the wind.
Yes ! as Sandy says, I am ever ready to learn, any pointers by anyone, i will be glad to learn.
Need to come to your place to fly, Sam, when is that going to happen ? god knows
(b) Strong head winds whereby in the vertical the model is drifting with the wind and you are wanting to stay in one position by dropping nose into the wind.
That's the case which is very much evident in the video Gusty. :giggle:
:giggle:
Didn't think so sandy ! sam will be able to tell, to me it appeared nothing more than moderate winds, well ! i did look at my Beaufort Scale pointers before commenting !
For Sandy

Gusty I did not hope you to take to the word strong so strongly
conceited to moderate :giggle: :giggle:
I am happy that you agree with the fact that there was some gust and I am sure ok with it if you say it was not Gusty
hahahah!
it was Beufort Scale 2-3 rather than 5-6
I would say it was Beufort Scale 4 which you missed in between
I learnt something today and this is getting interesting thanks to Gusty and Sandy :) . The wind that day was quite stroong. Another issue we face is the sudden change of wind directions. I would count it at least a 5 as it was pretty difficult to keep it in one place. The moment the plane gets vertical, it drifts away. The club flag as well as the windsock were fluttering pretty hard.
Gusty bhai...please go on with the pointers and help me advance my skill level. It would be an honor if u could make it to our field one day :D
Thanks Anilesh :)
Sandy
You win. Five it is. Beer is on me, my next jalandhar visit. Which could be as early as next month end.
Great Gusty. Looking forward to.
No beer for me :(
at the Secbad club ! very much ! your next trip
I owe you and Jack saab big time ;D So this time if I make it there, it will be on me.
Though was fasting, hotter weather but better wind conditions and couldn't stop the urge to fly ;) . As pointed by Gusty Bhai, tried my best to keep the tail tucked under :D

Amazing flying sir,loved it.
Thanks Priyum ;D appreciate your kind words!
Fantastic flying Samil.
Thanks dear :D more to come if weather permits ;)
Marvellous, Sam {:)} {:)}
Thanks a lot for the encouragement Sanjai Bhayya :)
