Yes VC uncle my apologies, I was thinking you were 55, I never knew  by now you are 65  ;D   ;)  :D  HaHaHa

Thank you VC  :hatsoff:

VC

Getting there, getting there, yet 18 till I die!

Seriously Sandy, that is a very good looking wing. Teach me. I have a BIG Tow Line Glider (64" span) returning my way from Anta. I want it to look like this.

Please note that it will be an Under Cambered wing.

sundaram

you look 18 too!!!  No wonder many like me do not Consider your age at all  ;D

surely VC. I have your inchworm Glider too which I have to assemble in coming days.

sundaram

Some more build progress.

The Engine Mount with reinforced firewall and side walls. I vaguely see a similarity with a cox bench test mount   ;D

The Tail wheel

The Servos receiver and BEC

the control linkages done

The Engine mounted hope it fly's the model.

Appologies forgot to take the photographs of the wing joiner and wing joining.

Dry fit of the wing on the model

So Whats left now are

1. Hinging of the control surfaces and linking.
2. Covering the sides.
3. Fixing the rubber band spar and rubber band.
4. Decals and numbering.
5. Fixing of battery based on the CG.

The engine has been run in and has been replaced with a Mylar reed valve. Lets see, on the bench it looks Nice so far. RPM of 12820 with a 6x4 prop.

Should touch a 13000 to 14000 in air. Thats about 250 to 300 gms of static thrust.

Yet to do the final weighing in lets see how it turns out.

I wanted it to be a slow flier and a floater for Param. If it is not able to carry well will be changing to electric.  :P

I was doubting the Same. However I was aiming for a slow floater for calm wind less days' so going ahead with it for now.

I wonder why you left a small portion uncovered? just under the nose part? ;)

Thankyou Sanjay Sir, Arun

I left it uncovered under the nose basically because of two reasons.

one is that the sealing iron was not reaching inside being narrow.

second it was easy for the routing of fuel line. fuel tank is right above it with air vent pipe coming down from those holes any over flow while filling is going to make it soggy there.  ;D

sundaram

Over all AUW with fuel and BEC 2S lipo is 540 Gms.

with an expected thrust of 250 to 300 gms it is around 0.5 power to weight ratio. Should definitely  fly as long as it can glide well.

If this Balsa Glider at 28.5 Oz (800 gms ) can fly with a cox 0.49 and a 6x3 prop I am hopping mine will definitely paint sky red.  ;D

Again this AXN at 780 gms

sundaram

The first test flight not good as extremely tail heavy at CG 35% and windy it was always pitching up at the slightest of gust and it was extremely windy.

So now the Lipo has been moved to right next to engine forward. and CG moved forward to 20% now.

watch for next flight test.

6x4 was surely on the higher side. 5x4 would have been perfect .. since the ground was small it was flying on controlled throttle.

sundaram

Thankyou Sir

The ground has lot of grass and since wheels are small it was not attaining speed easily. In tarmac it has a shorter run.

A perfect model for Param. Has great inherent stability, literally uncrashable.  Unless he deliberately noses it down it is not going to crash at all and on throttle cut just glides beautifully.

sundaram

This Sunday Fun Flying with it.

The grownup boys having fun with while Param for whom it was made is in the background all huffed and puffed.

VC

Wow! How did I miss this thread? No wonder that I was not able to comprehend while you were talking about the 'Idol'. Lucky to have seen the actual model. Well done Sir!
