Title: Gaskets for mufflers
Post by: anwar on July 25, 2009, 09:03:38 PM
While connecting their mufflers to engines, do most people here use RTV/Silicone paste type gasket makers, or just cut their own gaskets from sheets of appropriate material ?

I have done both. However, I would prefer RTV as it is simpler and works like a charm.

I have some gasket material, that i bought from a generator store, and use it for making gaskets. Be sure to soak the gasket in oil before using. Works very well. I have used it on engine/muffler as well as the backplate gaskets.
