Just received my AW ProX260 .60-.90 size ( http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=426;D . Though I would have loved to get the yellow-red scheme, pretty happy with the one I got (Blue-Orange). Tried every possible way to find an airframe for the dle I purchased few months back, but finally with the kind help of a local flier, got her shipped. Will update with pics later. Already done a lot of research on her, but being new to Gas, still might need some helping hands from our seniors and experts  ;)

Have ordered and waiting for Hitec 5625MG all around and a HS85MG for throttle as recommended by many in RCU and RCG. Initial run and brake-in will be with a Turnigy C type wood 16x8.

may be from "sam-like-spad" you should go to "sam-likes-gas".... :giggle:

all the best...

Hi Sathish and Aerowishwa, thanks but I still like SPADs ;)  wanted to get something that has more precision and will help me learn more. Will update with more pics as I begin the build :) Will also update the cost soon (when wify is not around  :giggle: ).

More pics :) Need to find time to file/dremel the fuse to mount the dle.

Edit: Break-in will be with an APC 16x6 prop

Thanks atul, yet to build. This is my first ARF and the engine mount needs some work. Progress is slow due to time constraints. Will upload video once I get started.

The parcel (Hitec 5625MG servos) was lost and TowerHobbies resent the parcel once I paid them the additional cost involved. Now I think I have everything required to complete the build. Will start the build after a week's time (after my short trip to homeland).

Got the servos, purchased a Dremel 300 for the DLE20 mod and finally started the build. Used the dremel to do the woodwork for the DLE mod and finished yesterday. Hope to get her on her feet within this week if time permits.

samlikespad

Started the build. Did the mod for dle,did all the iorningand hair drying, installed and glued all control surfaces. She is ready for the electrics now :)

samlikespad

Servos and linkage installed on all surfaces. Prepared the regulator ( flightpower 8A along with Rxcel kill switch), tested it with the Zippy 2100mah rx battery and Prepared the gas tank.

Some progress... Installed the dle and started working on the fuel system.

Thanks Gusty bhai... I've been through numerous and this one is cool! I love its RUD authority  (:|~

Back to my first gasser project :)

How do other gassers store their gas (Petrol)? What kind of containers are used to take fuel to the field? what are the different plumbing options for them? Do I have to go for specific brands of containers? or can we make our own petrol cans with custom made plumbing options? How do we measure the petrol/oil mixture ? Please show some light  :help: I tried searching, looked into some of the posts but couldn't find much on this  :(

Maidened mine today. Ended up quite nose heavy. Went ahaed with the maiden and it was balloning a bit. Added some tail weight and took her up again. The ballooning was no more and she behalved better this time. On the second flight ate mud!!! When I checked the model at the crash site, the regulator switch was OFF! I loosely fit the battery and I think while doing couple of rolls just before the incident might had it come loose and later hit the switch :( Seems fixable and a local expert is helping me fix her already. Such nice people around :) is a blessing!

She is almost done and hopefully will fly again :)

Fixed her up and flew again. Needs a lot of adjustments  :headscratch:

The timer cable was broken, ordered on but mean time used the dremel tool, digged out the cables and soldered :D

Sam
(a) isn't the gauge of the wire too thick? both terminals are quite close to each other, switching back to original will be q good idea

(b) She is slighlty Nose heavy, rolling to the right, you could affors a little more Expo, Consider D/R, also check static lateral balancing i suspect your starboard wing is physically heavier you may have to add a lil weight to the port wing

Hi Gusty Bhai, thanks :)

a) sorry about the bad picture, the wires are the same original but the thicker looks are due to the heat shrink tubes :D . Ordered a spare cable from Tower and its on the way. And there is epoxy keeping them strong and apart.

b) Didn't try to trim her laterally off the ground as I was only thinking "how to get this thing back on ground"  :giggle: She pitches up on low throttle and down on throttle (well i had a lot of down trim to get this thing down). When I checked the CG on ground it was neutral as per AW or even slightly nose heavy. This bird is notorious for pitch sensitivity mostly due to the AIL centering. DR is already there and 40% expo on all channels except THR.

Talking bout THR, my engine tuning seems horrible and the throttle response was worse! If I pump her up, it takes some time for the engine to return back to idle on the lower ranges  :o And all the electrics and battery are on the port side while the engine is on the right side. I will revisit all the settings once again. Will do a CG both ways. Really appreciate your review, noted all the comments  :salute:

After putting more attention to the balancing issues, finally flew my extra260 today without much issues. Later on had some fun too. This is the first short flight today morning after fixing the balance issues.

Gusty bhai, like you pointed out, its still a bit nose heavy, though there is plenty of weight on the port side, still there is a roll tendency to the starboard side. But over all today I was pleased with her and enjoyed (like 8 to 9 flights)

Two crashes and this plane is still lot of fun :D
