hello everyone..
i am a complete newbie to glow planes although i have flown some electrics.

I am starting up with a self made high wing balsa airframe. I have got a .40 engine.

I have some doubts i need to get cleared before i attempt starting it, so kindly pardon me if i am repeating any topic here.

1. I need to know what fuel mixture is required to run this engine? methanol? castor oil? nitro?

2. From where can i procure this fuel in Delhi?

3. What battery configuration is required to run the rx and 5 servos? Can use my old 1800mah 3s lipo from electric planes?

Welcome 2 the hobby
here are the answers:

1. Fuel mixture = 80% methanol - 20% castor
2. You can purchase methanol from any chemical supplier (search justdial.com there are many out there) u can buy castor oil from any chemist
3. yes you can but you would need a ubec to regulate the current moving into the rx

get nitro fuel from radical works in cp or make some yourself by mixing methanol,castor and nitromethane.

You should really go to one of the fields and interact with the fliers there   Otherwise you may end up spending more than you would need to !
