First of all, a big congrats for this beautiful bird!! and I  also liked the spirit of you three forming a 'Sooting Star' Squadron.
Isn't it an AlleyCat/BobCat clone ? Where did you buy them from ?

Coming back to the servos. The size of the tray would decide which size servos you 'Could' fit and the AUW/Wing Span decide what Torque Servo you 'Should' use.

I feel like the servos should have torque 'Numbers' at least 2-4 times the AUW. The 55" WS suggest it should be a 'Standard' Size servo, with at least 6-12Kg of torque.

Of course, do look at servos from OEM like Futaba/JR/Hitect/Sanwa etc. But keep the Formfactor/Torque in mind.

2-4 times AUW would be overkill, in my opinion, at least for a non 3D plane. I have a 70" WS Texan with an AUW of 4Kgs. The manufacturer recommends - and I am using - standard servos, without any problems whatsoever.

The blue servo in the picture looks like a mini "HXT" type. Would have less tha 2kG torque, I would think. Do note that there are 2 of them so the load per servo is virtually halved. Same holds true when 2 are used for elevators.

I have, till date, only used servos of  - marginally -over 6 kG torque for the rudder in my Christen Eagle and Ultra Stick. Both planes weigh over 6kGs and have a single servo for this.

I think 2 X 9g servos on the wings and so on the elevator . The throttle and rudder will use standard servos i think

sushil_anand

The throttle servo is the least loaded, in any aircraft. Unless, of course, the linkage is binding somewhere. Virtually, ANY servo would do.

I think using a Standard servo is usually advised since it is more reliable than a 9g servo

Reliability of a servo is not necessarily related to its size. All things being equal, if a servo is used within its ratings, they will be equally reliable.

hi divay,
the jet star is an ARF wingspan is 55in,wing area is 582sq.in.the engine required is 2c 0.46cu.in 4c 0.61cu.in.The engine im using right now is 0s46 la and the servos im using is 4 S3003 futaba standard servo.Funny thing is that it has never flown im having a problem using engines on it cauz it always seized up before flying,i think the main problem is that since its a pusher theres not enough air flow to cool the engine.i've tried two engines already one was aviastar 0.53 cu.in then the os 0.46 which i used and fly regularly on my hornet trainer,so i've tried flying the jet star twice but then as i mention the engine always seized up while taxing or just right before take off.so  it never few which im not very proud of.as for the material the fuse and winngs its made out of balsa precoverd in polyester flim.and i bought this model for Rs.8500 on october last year. For now the model is just hanging  maybe ill convert it into electric someday(I'm working on my new biplane120 for now).
Anyway thanks for the intrest and happy flying and safe landings.
                                                                              Thanks,
                                                                              Zuala
