Bought this kit some time ago
Nice Big model ;D

I'll be using a Nitro Engine on it, probably an OS 55, as I prefer using a larger prop

Sirji,
Looks lovely. Does everything fit, or are there problems like with the Sunbird kit?
Last month I stumbled across a Lucifer kit on RCB (75" towline glider)
Got one right away.
Excellent laser cutting, and good 7lb/cft balsa.
Unfortunately every part is on 3mm sheet. Including those which should have been on 1/16" sheet, like leading edge sheeting, cap strips, stabilizer parts etc. So disappointed that I put it aside. What's the point of a kit if one has to replace sheets...
But then who buys A2 glider kits, anyway.
Every time you build something like this Tiger Moth, you tempt me sorely to follow suit.
Fortunately I already have a Tiger Moth.
Thanks for inspiring me to start on the Marvin...
Regards

Iyer sir, thanks
The manufacturer of this kit is Ele RC, and till date I have successfully built (and posted here)
Griffin
Spacewalker
Piper Cub
Cloud Dancer
Red Swan
Frankly, there are minor glitches in parts fit with all, increasing with the complexity of the kit, and this is the most complex of all ;). But then, kya farq, we are modellers!

The Lucifer is a manufactured product by RCB! The only reason I didn't buy it because it would need a power pod, there being no provision to fit a motor in the nose
If there i a problem like you described, you must take it up with RCB!

Your Tiggie is a foamie/Electric >:D ;D ;) ;)
Good luck with the Marvin; waiting for it ;D

It's painfull to us, means all modellers, when our modelling time is used for our motherland, which we can not deny, and we have to give our 100%, as I am also feeling same..
Horizontal stabs outer edge triangles are asymmetrical, (one is not correctly positioned)...

Was tied up with a wedding, so the build was on hold
Wings

The wingtips are reversed from the original!
I thought about correcting this, but the lower wing has the aileron as part of the wingtip, and that would have been complicated. So I decided to go ahead with the kit manufacturer

I'm using Hinge Points instead of the supplied Mylar hinges
They're easy to use, and very reliable
I'll show a complete stage-wise build log of the wing
I start by fitting the ribs into the main spar. The laser cut slot in the ribs is a little small, and needed to be widened with a needle file
(https://i.postimg.cc/Gh8X3Gzv/IMG-20191128-113433.jpg)
Three ribs are joined together so as to create a slot for the interplane struts as in the above photo
A servo tray has to be fabricated, and sits between 2 ribs
(https://i.postimg.cc/8zLwMG25/IMG-20191128-115552.jpg)
A built up aileron has to be fabricated
(https://i.postimg.cc/1zPBKTSK/IMG-20191128-124557.jpg)
Strips of balsa are fitted to make a base for the hinge to fit
(https://i.postimg.cc/VktZgnCz/IMG-20191128-160403.jpg)
These are then rounded as the hinge will be in the centre
(https://i.postimg.cc/FKgW5vpq/IMG-20191128-163955.jpg)
Wingtip is now fabricated

Hinge Points fitted, will be glued in after covering; a dab of Vaseline must be put on the hinge. CA glue to be avoided as it makes the plastic brittle

Cut the cowl and fitted it
(https://i.postimg.cc/y6M0YHPP/IMG-20191203-182636.jpg)
The upper and lower wing halves are slid into carbon fibre tubes of 6 mm & 10 mm. These are supposed to be held in place by the rigging and interplane struts
I'm not entirely comfortable with just the rigging. So I epoxied hardwood tabs and screwed in hooks, to pull the 2 wing halves together with rubber bands at the wing bottom

Thanks Sreekanth :D
Sirji,
Lovely, including the fit and finish of the cowl. Source?
Best wishes for maiden flight (tomorrow?)
Next week you can add windscreens, door outline, panel lines, fake rivets, rib stiching etc.
BTW, my Dynam Tiger Moth can fly really slow. Then it shows a funny trait. When I try to turn it with aileron input, the adverse yaw makes it turn the wrong way! Guess that huge rudder has a purpose. Recommend some rudder mix to aileron for initial flights...
For your next project may I suggest a 60" scale model of say a Fieseler Storch, or a Wilga, with slats, flaps, long dangling legs, lot of windows, the works!
Regards
On this forum, besides you, perhaps there are very few builders of the model
At one end of the scale, there's flyingboxcar, with his LARGE models and painstaking attention to scale details.
At the other end is Glidiator with his ultra light indoor specialisation, and his efforts to promote rubber power models.
Then there's me, still trying to get someone to film a 10 sec chuck glider flight, unsuccessfully so far despite offering cash prizes every year.
What happened to Saikat, an old hand, and Kiran rc, a really promising youngster?

Iyer sir, thanks! :D
The cowl came along with the kit, I cut it and painted
The maiden is waiting for some good weather. Flying in the fog is difficult for these old eyes ;)
No way! No way am I going to add scale details :) :) :) Enough!

Hungary? ???
A real Tiger Moth cannot look pristine.
Please add windscreens, some weathering, smoke and oil stains etc, even if you don't want to add panel lines, rivets etc...
And flag on tail.

Thanks Manoj ;D ;D ;D :thanks:
Wish I had remembered to include, with the Green Chinakote, a few meters of Doculam, something new I learnt about.
Have lots. Really thick, and really thin.
Next parcel, when I feel upto standing in the Speedpost queue!
See my Marvin thread for my experiments

Got to love that name - Chinakote
Sirji,
10 days and no update? All well I hope.
Meanwhile, how do I locate your 'List of builds' thread?
Can't find it.
Want to suggest same to members of my group on RCG Vintage Forum, many of whom are prolific builders like you!
Will wait for good weather. Pretty bad nowadays. When it's not foggy, it's windy!

Here's my post on RCG.
Hi everyone,
On my local forum RCINDIA.COM, one of my friends, (sanjayrai55) has a thread 'Builds I have posted on RCI'
It has links to his various build threads and is updated periodically.
On this RCG Vintage forum there are many who build several models every year, for the Build Offs or otherwise.
It would be nice if you guys each started a thread on 'Builds I have posted on RCG'.
Just list the model and post a link to the build thread.
We can then find all of your builds in one place.
Like this:
