Title: Yak 54 Profile 3D
Post by: anwar on March 21, 2009, 11:59:35 PM
Flew the Yak 54 Profile 3D from RC Dhamaka (http://www.rcdhamaka.com) this weekend  :)   It is a nice plane overall, easy to build and setup.  Flying characteristics are best suited for intermediate and advanced fliers, although it can be very tame if used with the right prop and set up with lower rates and/or expo in the radio.

Since I only had an OS55 engine instead of the recommended 46 size, the plane had massive power.  It would hover at less than half throttle  :o  It can do knife-edge and other 3D moves with ease.

The only small issue (probably due to use of the bigger than recommended engine) was that the landing gear flexed a bit during hard landing.

Over all a great plane  {:)}  Some pics are posted (sorry about the low quality of the pics, it was a wierd/gloomy day).

Hi Anwar,
It will be great if you could describe the manuevers in the video. Excellent flying {:)}. Will be great if you could post, as a separate thread, how to perform these manuevers and in general also post flying tips.

I am starting various threads towards this effort.  We will start with airplanes, and separate posts for progressions through various maneuvers.

Helis are a whole different story.  When I was starting with helis, someone explained it to me this way: one of the last and most tricky moves in flying a plane is to hover it, while the very first movement in a heli is to hover it !  This makes beginning with a 6 channel heli pretty challenging.
