Hi All,

The bearing of my brushless stock motor came out while I was 10 feet up in the air so faced a little hard landing I plugged it back in and gave it a hover but the bearing keeps coming out. The questions I have

- Should I Apply Fixing it with CA or not?
- Is this a sign of motor going bad and time to order a new one if not then how should I check if the motor is fine?

Attaching a pic for everyones reference

Thanks

Sorry Sujju,

But I only have Feviquick, no loctite will that work?

Hi All,

So I applied Fevikwick outside the bearing and and fixed it in the motor, now the issue is that the motor and motor wires are getting very hot and it seems that there is an issue with the motor (not sure though) please see the video below. I thought it was a main gear issue so I replaced it and still the same.

Note: The Main gear teeth are correctly aligned with the motor pinion.  :help:

Motors tend to get hot in flight, in many cases.  Unless they are really hot, that should not be an issue.  There will be some more cooling when you run with the main blades on.

i can hear the motor spin but the main main gear is not moving... is the pinion on the motor fixed properly (or is the motor running but the pinion is not?)...

It looks like the motor is having trouble spooling up.  It could be due to multiple reasons.  See if it is a timing issue on the ESC.  Internal issues in the motor could be another cause.  Make sure the battery has enough juice.

Bad soldering and short in motor windings can also cause this.

Thanks I will double check the gear and pinion meshing and will also check for internal motor issues

Hi All,

Here are the things that I observed

-The motor spools up in the wrong direction due to which the main gear fails to move and then when tried again spools up in the right direction which engages the main gear.

- I don't know how to check ESC timing and if the wires in the motor are short. How can I check that?

-I also observerd that the front servo moves like crazy when I spool up the motor but when I plugg out the motor and give power it seems ok. Today I will change servo and will check again.

so if it results to be a bad motor then please suggest which motor should I go for along with pinion for Belt CP v2 (also considering the main gear teeth and space available to fit motor)

Current motor is Stock 3800kV Esky Brushless with 10T pinion

Thanks

You just reprogram the ESC to a different timing (this is supported by a majority of ESCs). Just find the manual for the ESC you are using.

You have to eliminate the issue step by step.  With the motor changing direction arbitrarily like that, it seems like there is an issue with the motor.

The pinion is not a concern, just make sure the shaft size, KV and wattage are similar.  The pinion can usually be moved from one motor shaft to another.

I am using the Hobbyking 25-30 A Programmable ESC can't find its owners manual can you Help me program it?

I have replaced the Servo and it fixed the servo movement thing. Now I have replaced the main gear as well and will spin the helly tomorrow morning.

But I still am faicng the issue with motor not spooling up at start. so out of 5 attempts it will spool up 2 times only

There multiple 30A ESC models from HK itself. You need to be clear about the exact ESC.

The manual for one of them is this : http://www.suppomodel.com/ESC/Simple_options_for_20A30A40A_programming.pdf, and according to that, timing is not programmable.

Hi Anwar,

my ESC does support timing it has the option of low medium and high and currently its set at low timing and it seems that low is considered a good option.

This is the ESC that I am using

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6458&Product_Name=Hobbyking_SS_Series_25-30A_ESC_(card_programmable)

I have not tried changing the timing yet and the current condition is that the motor and wires are getting really hot the bearing is not comming out. so I am going to hover it and see what explodes ???

I want to know Can I take apart the motor and see if the wiring is burnt or something?

Thanks

hi mate,
these are cheap motors, if the bearing came out while flying it has prob damaged the windings or the magnets,
just bin it and get a new one.
If you try to fly it like that it could take the esc AND battery out,
bin it.

hi,

i think your motor is spoiled because of 3 windings only 2 are used and this is causing the motor to turn in any direction.

As these motors work on the principle of 3 phase motors.

Hey All,

Thanks for all your answers just got my motor and the bird is in the air and nothing is heating up now ;D
