Building a scale 450 helicopter with 4 blade rotor head.
The tail would the default 2 blade rotor.
Details
450 V2 frame
Turnigy 2100Kv motor
YEP 45A ESC
TGY 306G servo x 3
INO DB261 HB rudder Servo
Bell 206 Scale body
This is my first multi blade build, so any help in setting up the head would be appreciated. I am still learning about swash follower, phasing etc.
Issues I foresee : Tail authority might be an issue because of the low RPM. I might try bigger tail blades as a workaround. If it doesn't work, I might have to get a 4 blade tail rotor.
{:)} all the best for build dada {:)}
Thanks Ram
Knowing Sujit, it will be an exceptional build
nice effort... looking forward for the success....
the issue i see right now is that of the loading on the motor.... 4 blades will have twice the loading as that or a std 2 blade. u may have to vary in the gear combination...
yes the tail authority will be a issue... again gear meshing to the rescue... try to get a bit more rpm at the tail rotor...
First and fore most thing to check is whether the head and main shaft are aligning correctly or not.even when they look like in perfect condition check twice to avoid wobbling.high head speed and low pitch values help in tail authority.all the best for your build
Well, I did maiden today. Everything was looking OK, it was a bit out of track. The tail was also bouncy. Was expecting all of this. But unfortunately, a swashlink (which goes in the guide) came off. The heli dipped forward and crashed. I was near to the ground and preparing to land when this happened. I just hope there is not much damage.
Will report details tonight
How did the link come off was it old or placed reversed :headscratch: :headscratch:
My mistake, I did not loctite it
I don't remember loctiting swash link balls previously :headscratch:
ouch hope u were using cheap fiber glass blades !!!! :headscratch: :headscratch:
No yaar, I was using TIG CF blades :ouch: :'(
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: thts a dent 8-) :o
ur also using a digital pitch gauge how were the blades off track ...i do mine on standard pitch gauge using reference and my blades r tracking dead on dont have to check also lol ...although you have four blades i understand :headscratch: but the digital pitch gauge wont lie lol
I just tracked one blade and used that link as a reference for other three links.
The main thing I wanted to check is does it fly right. There is no FBL unit on this. We have to manually set the phasing
When it flew I was really happy and exited ... lol that's when disaster struck!
ohhhh .........its k robird would do well for this it supports mutli rotor toooo ;D...ps i check both linkages if i show u myheli though swash is level and all one link is shorter then the other to get 0 degrees on the blades
Yes, robird does support multi blades, but I think this can fly without it too.
Yeah, linkages can be different length to get 0 pitch.
Nwz, I did not need perfect tracking during testing, so just used a reference.
kk all the best for second maiden ...btw i flew the plane i spoke about it could not handle wind at all flew for 2:30 min on landing it got trashed cause we were flying using a 2200 mah instead of using a 1300 3s weight was more so was the landing speed and int the ground lol just fuse got damaged
Oh sorry to hear that. Hope it can be fixed up?
Nah just build a new on :giggle:
hi sir,
i am a student of engineering. its my first time to build any rc helicoptor.
i dont have any knowledge in components required and where to buy from.
will you pls tell me the good idea or way to build a rc helicoptor.
I guess you posted in the wrong thread.
Nwz, the best way is to buy a kit and assemble it.
There are lots of videos available
check the basics section

nyc where did u get he body from
Everything is from HK - the rotor head, the body, the frame, the motor, the esc!
The body is made by KDS
yikes customs must have charged alot
Everything was ordered separately. I do not remember paying anything major ... it was usual
gutsy to try n get a scale body from hk ...the way they handle post it gives me nightmares to get something like this
Hmm that's true. A bit of luck is required for safe arrival :)
lol ...i will ask u to order my stuff then :P
;D
Hello,
Hope the build is going well. Please do post some pictures, and share the developments, thanks.
Amit K
Attaching some more pictures. As anticipated tail authority can be issue sometimes especially during the end of the flight, hence decided to a add a 4 blade tail rotor too.

Nice job done Sujith !! {:)}
Thanks Amit and Dhruv!
Good going Raja...
Thanks doc
