My project this winter was a Goblin 770.. Maiden went well but crashed on 5th flight because of a bad solder..lost power in flight..the machine did not get any damage despite falling inverted from a good height..thanks to good design, snow and soft ground..the only damage was nylon bolts and a linkage..the boom separated as designed..so far I find very neat design ideas implemented on the machine..quality is not as good as my TDR but its neither crap..my setup is

Pyro 700-52 (soon to be replaced with pyro 800-48)

Rcpilotacro, Esc wire lost solder joint with connector..this happened for the first time to me..visually, the connection looked okay when I had it soldered...but it failed in flight....such things happen..you can not avoid that :-) ..when I brought it home after crash, I realized that no shop carried 770mm size blades..good that blades were intact.

Raja, if you google individual components you would get an idea of price...I don't calculate total to avoid shocking myself  ;D.. I just keep saying 'all is well' (3 idiots movie) :-)

My reason for going with Goblin is that my other machines, TDR and LOGO600se, are both low rpm machines..TDR shines at low rpm while logo can't exceed 1800 technically (it does not need high rpm anyway for its weight) .. I like low rpm flights but wanted something that works great at high rpm too...and did not I say it looks sexy  ;D

Goblins do look sexy have to agree on that ....but i cannot imagine having one atleast 6yrs from now considering the kit is 1000+ i think and electronics and battries am guess close to 3000$ ....all i can think of now is getting the alrc 450 stretch with the goblin body for 100 $ tht can swing 350-370mm blades and looks just like the goblin ...  :help:lol

Hey Shakti: Congrats on getting the machine..Its an expensive and beautiful machine..No doubt..I heard its very well made by SAB heli division...

I also just finished on a project ( secret) which swings 500 to 520mm blades..Will fly it after a month or so..Waiting to purchase a FMA PL8 charger so collecting money for it..Damn the hobby is expensive or am i buying too much??? :headscratch:

Goblin...Look good till it does aerobatics and some soft 3d...But, in hands of tareq, it looks more like a insect buzzing around..hehehe

I wanted to buy a Logo500 or a 600..but, the fact that only readyheli stocks most of the parts is a put off..

Shannon

Hehe :giggle: tarq n bert fly them so low and so close and so fast in our eyes it looks like a big bird with killer blades rotating i would like to know how do they see it through their eyes ...may be an mcpx brushless

Yup Shannon,

I think if i will witness them (tareq and bert) live flying a 700 nitro so close, i will be scared to death for a moment..

Shakti

Thanks doctor! Get logo if you can..you would not regret it..German machines are on top..I started with blade400 as my first heli..no coax etc..within months I bought logo600se...logo quality is exceptional..I did not buy a single upgrade for my logo..everything just worked..flight after flight for almost two years..and still going strong..Its more expensive than an align Trex but then it does not have parts failing in flight like trex or requires upgrades to fly decently/reliably..not bashing align helis here but it is well known that they are not the best in quality..but they sure are the best bang for the buck.

I agree with you that this hobby is expensive..its a niche market..and I understand the reasoning for buying cheap but I prefer to wait and buy good rather than buy cheap and then invest more time, money and effort on upgrades..in long run costs come down to be almost equal..been there done that..its very frustrating and sort of drags you behind..for some beginners its better to buy cheap and get a taste of the hobby first (have seen people quitting after 3-4 crashes) but for me I always knew that I wanted to stay in this hobby..

I have made a charging station with two fma powerlab8 and 2200watt powersupply from meanwell. Its a very good charger..i charge my two 6s 5000mah thunderpower batteries in 10 mins (may be less). Another good option will be icharger.. i have that unit as well..reliable,cheap and more portable than powerlab8

Readyheli has been best so far for me..I get almost all of my stuff from them...excellent customer service..not sure what puts you off..they usually have plenty of stock and are fast...Mikado had lost it in US until they had readyheli..this single retailer model worked very well for them.

By the way, I have stood next to both Bert and Tareq when they flew but I find Tareq much more aggressive..a personal opinion

hi shakti dont u find ready heli very pricy on their shipping where they use the same modes of shipping like helidirect no dout they are located at different places in usa but still ...really stupid price tag on shipping even normal mail .....tareq i have watched many of his videos over and over specially videos where i can find him and his tx in the video ,his thumb movements and eyes u gotta say his brain can process alot in a single span of time every move by the helicopter is predicted buy him he just knows the heli so well that he knows on a control input what will happen next and how to come out of it ....it takes years of flying to get this good tht too these guys fly regularly unlike all of us not having a carrier in this hobby to do the very same ...... :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

I dont know what they charge for shipping to India..never used that...to switzerland, shipping depends on weight and size..for example, for my current item which is being shipped from readyheli, i paid 3$. Similarly, i have paid approx 40$ as well in past. I never found them stealing my pocket on shipping...I find hobbyking shipping obnoxious..almost 40-50$ everytime..just curious, how much does readyheli charge for shipping to India?

I could be wrong but I think readyheli is located in Florida only

Honestly, i cant watch Tareq for long.. Just too much of hard 3d makes it boring to watch in person (after few minutes)..if there is a mix of big air, smooth 3d and hard 3d with some nervous moments, things become interesting..just my opinion...not saying he cant do that..he can easily.. But not his style..

Doctor, I think single retailer (readyheli) cocept is often complained by people in US who usually do not buy overseas. They easily get most of their stuff, for their other non mikado helis, in US itself with many shops to choose from(in general). For mikado stuff, they are forced to use readyheli. For someone not in US, mikado definitly has multiple dealers. Some in Asia as well, if I am not wrong. You can choose what works best for you.
