Title: FPV on a 3D heli ??
Post by: dheerajjuneja on November 08, 2013, 03:46:58 PM
Seems very little is available on this forum about FPV (or i was unable to spend too much time searching), am thinking on trying out FPV.

Have done some flights on the RealFlight in FPV mode and kinda liked the feeling. Just wanted to ask if ppl are doing FPV with a 3D heli?

Rahul i.e nanoinside  is doing it via his raptor.

Dheeraj bhai fpv kay chakkar mein mat padd. We have lost a couple of good heli fliers who are now into professional fpv. U tend to loose interest in sport or 3d flyin.

as fpv platform a quadrotor is much better from every aspect except no 3d like heli. quads are more damage resistant, cleaner and easier, safer, cheaper, carries more weight, much more stable, everyone has some idea about it and lots of info online. takes 2-3 hrs to build one. after youre comfortable u can fpv heli which is more like a one crash stuff.

everyone gets tired of seeing toy model go in circles around them once u fly fpv. :D

Hi Doctor, it's too late now my friend, am already infected by this bug :) Though will try to fight the urge to go purely fpv and stick around for the some sports flying ... Will try to get in touch with Rahul and ask for some details on how he does It on a heli, real flight seems not so difficult after flying heli generally. What's up with you, what's cooking at your clinic ?

Thanks Parvesh, a quad is on its way already (wk X350 -FPV version), but still thought will ask if ppl are flying with heli as well, just seems that heli will be more fun as for the speed and agility it offer, am not sure if a quad can do that as the platform is more inclined towards arial photography and thus designed to be more stable?

Any inputs in this ?

Hi Aman, hubsan makes fpv rtf helis, however they are FP not CCPM (which makes sense), but hey it's a lot if fun doing FPV on a heli, try RealFlight cockpit view and you will see what I am talking about, actually I feel the flying becomes lot more intuitive when done FPV style

Ok, yes, RealFlight is a simulator, ppl use various sims, this is the one learnt on and it did a pretty good job teaching me I guess :)

agility and performance entirely depends on your setup and built, eg- motor kv(low kv for AP, high kv for acro flight) etc. best to build your own, x350 and all are just to get u started. real quads are not less on speed and agility... put 4s/6s on it. simulators slow down everything, in real life its much faster and there is lag in entire signal transmission requiring faster input.

I guess that would be understandable about setting things up, read quite a few days about naza, apm, multi, kk board and how they are setup etc, then it made more sense to get something almost setup to get started quicker, I am sure down the line there will be a lot of tweaking/modding needed to get things up as per my preference, but it will get me started quicker ;)
