Please can any fliers help me out? I am new to helis but not new to RC as I drive a TT Phoenix BX. I have little experience in sims. I need help from a Bangalore based flier in helping me set up a Belt CP V2 (Should be arriving in a month or 2). Colective pitch requires stuff lie a pitch gauge etc. right? I have no idea how to set all that up. By the way, its a 450 size heli.
No Bangalore based heli folks have responded yet in public.
In any case, please PM me if no one has responded (publicly or privately) even after you get your heli. I will seek help directly from some one I know there, who has a lot of experience with helis.
Oh well, I think I will have to move gradually. Thinking of getting a coax. heli.

Depends on you, more than anything else :P
If you want to start flying a real heli ASAP, go for the LAMA, as it is super stable.
But if you want to get the feeling of flying a real RC heli, and you are willing to take it slow with tons of time on the sim, go for a single rotor.

+1 Exactly what I would have said too.
What if I am going to step up soon to a CP? Which will reduce my risk of crashing?
Also I love to fly indoors.
The answer is still the same, your preferred options are sim, FP, coax in that order.
You can't do anything other than hover with a CP heli indoors unless you have a really big indoor space.
But which one is more manouverable?
Assuming I understand what you mean by "maneuverable" (it can mean couple of different things), it is the CP (single rotor) that is more maneuverable.
But I can't start off with CP can I?
By maneuverable I mean which one of the 2 (coax or FP) moves faster and stuff because I was watching a video on youtube of a guy doing amazing stuff with a Honey Bee FP. Just wanted to know if thats possible with a coax.

As someone who started with a Trex 450SE (except for may be a few minutes on a GWS Dragonfly before that), I can tell you with confidence that you can start with a CP, as long as you satisfy one condition. It all depends on your training on a decent sim. If you can hover, fly around, and do a nose-in hover on the sim, I do not see why you cannot start with a CP. But it will not be the tame/calm flying experience from a coax. Your heart may beat the heck out of itself 8-)
The CP would be most maneuverable, followed by the FP, and finally the slowest would be the coax.
So should I go ahead with the belt CP V2? Also, in Jakkur, are there any fliers? If not, Rotorzone, can you help me out when I get it?
Contact me after you get the heli. Since you are starting with it, make sure you get training gear and spare blades. Also try to get spares along with the heli as I don't know of any shop in India carrying blade cp parts.
For a heli like the CP, wouldn't he also need some spare feathering shafts/spindles ? They almost always get bent on crashes that take the main blades out.

Thanks, but I think those are for V1. I am getting the V2. If their sizes are same, I could get those too.

My experience with the Belt CP is minimal, as I never owned one. But from my experience of learning on a Trex 450SE and crashing it about 20 times so far :( , the following list is what comes to mind.
* Main blades
* Feather shaft/spindle
* Tail boom
* Main shaft
* Main gears
* Tail boom supports
* Landing skids and undercarriage.
* Tail blades, Tail gear
* Fly-bar (the first few times, you can most probably bend it back into shape)
Others like the main frame (especially the CF ones, which does not apply to the belt CP) may crack if the crash is significant, but it is relatively rare.
Note that these are pretty much in the order of frequency, with the main blades being the most frequent.
Well I guess since there are so many parts to break, I will just go ahead with the coax. Think about going 3D later.
