Tail servo :-  Turnigy MG90S.

You need 3 more servos for the body. Use mg 14 or 933MG servos. For the tail better use a ds480. its expensive, but learning curve on a well behaved heli is always better. that mt kit does not come with blades or canopy. Buy some yellow looking canopy and some cheap white Fiber glass blades with good reviews.

VC

From what I understand, a total of 4 servos are required in this Heli. A lot of people are using 3 standard 9 gram HXT 900 servos and one is a more advanced Tail hold servo. Is my understanding correct or am I way off?

Turnigy GTX3 l mSP 190 Micro Heli l HengLong Mad Truck l Kyosho TR-15 Roller

Taking the liberty to comment on the above post, even though my opinion was not called for. D922MG seems good from what I read in the reviews. That is what I am going in for too.

I am not sure if using Digital is going to make any big difference if I am not doing any 3D. I have 4 Spektrum DSP75.
As the name suggest they are 7.5 gms so not sure if they will fit in the body or not..

VC could you please send me a mail attachment of that list you've made?
I have almost the same things in my cart, but with a little extras of some electronics and a 5 blade main rotor..
and it comes to $210

Yes, a lot of people are using HXT900s.  The only thing to note is to get 1 or 2 extra, and also get a few sets of servo gears.  Crashes will take the gears out, so better to be prepared.  Vinay suggested metal gears ones to avoid this scenario, at a higher price point.

I know what you mean. I've been trying to post an excel sheet as a jpg - it is not working out. Will try again later.

We support PDF ;)  You can use one of the online converters from DOC to PDF or XLS to PDF.

If you have a snipping tool or a screen capture, you can just capture the image and it gets saved as a jpeg or a png!

Anwar Sahib - Thanks! Have plenty of HXT 900's in stock.
Dorwin - You seem to be way over the top - my set up works out to $95 + $24 postage = $ 119 =
Rs. 5500/- landed India. Trying to enclose my list here.
Nehutech - No issues, just trying to maintain protocol! ;D
Findvikas - I agree with you 100% - we are not trying any 3D here, let's just keep it simple.

The issue is the 800pixel size limit on images, so the contents are unreadable even at full size of the image.  PDF is definitely the sure shot solution.

If you must post JPG then upload to tinypic or some other image hosting server and post the link... you can post anysize then :). I prefer plain text which will have working links as well..

VC

Oye you guys - you mind telling me if you can see the JPG that I posted? This is beginning to sound like a graphics designing workshop! ;D

None of us are experienced Heli flyers and neither are we interested in 3D to start off with. I suggest we keep the pricing down to the lowest possible. In fact, I am thinking of downgrading to a Fibreglass set of main rotors instead of the CF set. What do you gentlemen feel about this? Shall we take the plunge?

I myself ordered both, start with fiberglass but if needed I dont want to pay shipping cost again just for blades. Also, I ordered tons of HXT900 instead of going after metal gear servos... the reason is they are cheap and "anyways" I am going to crash it... :)

Guys, At the beginning Even I thought I wanted to build a cheapest heli first and decided on the HXT 900. Just after the first crash I realized that changing servo and gears took more time than the metal gear servos worth.

Also if you bump the heli hard to the ground, there are chances that the plastic gears may strip and crash the heli. I had similar times twice where at the end of the loop the heli bounced off from the ground breaking the landing gear but I believe If I HAD used the plastic gears they would have stripped off and the whole heli would have crashed.

Also when ordering servos order atleast 4 to 5 since all servos may not move at the same speed as they are cheap. If a servo is moving more then it can be corrected by the radio, but one of the servo is moving faster than it cannot be corrected by the radio. I had this problem with MG 14s.

MG922 is the best buy for the price. Here is a good config.

1)MG922 X 4 (1 as spare). - MG933 is suggested, but they are little slow. Here again, MG 14s are cheaper and MORE sturdier, but you need to buy more as the speeds may vary between them. - I would have brought 5 X mg14.
2)HK401 - If it dosent hold the tail, do the sponge mod. - http://www.rcindia.org/helis/hobby-king-401b-sponge-mod/
3)DS480 tail servo. - I would never compromise here!
4)2215H for learning to hover - the most efficient motor on HK
5)Plush 40A. Even the Tower pro 40 (purple colour is good enough.)
6)11T pinion.
7)A good training gear.
8)Motor does not come with mounting screws. - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8714
9)Gyro foam. - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8999

Make sure your radios support 120 degree CCPM.

For Training gear - I would suggest u guys use - http://cgi.ebay.com/Alum-Hub-450-Series-Heli-3D-Big-Training-kit-Silver-/170489786635?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b1fbb10b

Check out how the heli crashes with the plastic hub in the fourth video. http://www.rcindia.org/helis/hk-450-mt-build-thread/msg13420/#msg13420

Thats Y i suggest the above hub and metal gear servos.

I Strongly suggest you go through 4 pages of that thread. It answers 100 percent of your questions for sure! And dont forget finless bob videos.

findvikas

Thanks Vinay... I already ordered this guy :)

We think alike , I guess :) The link you gave me was only for center piece while this link is for entire kit.. for few bucks extra..

VC if you see my thread on HK450 V2 http://www.rcindia.org/helis/hk-450-v2-plastic-build-thread/,

I faced several issues. I already had building experience and tons of spares hence I got it resolved. You may be lucky and all may work out like the other reviewers.

Also the Head of the V2 broke out on the first Crash! My MT took 3 crashes before I discarded it.

I suggest you go with MT and have a trouble free experience for the first time build. coz for the first time builders, building a trouble free kit itself is already a pain ;)

Nehutech

thank God i ordered the MT ver.

thanks Vinay for help in finding right version.

Its all luck/ Building experience. I was not able to build the stock V2, but Anwar's Brother could do it w/o a single add on.  ;)
