Hi Ritwik
welcome to RCIndia

well for your question i leave it to be answered by other senoirs [anwar bhai, gaurav sir, vinay sir...]
anyways scratch building a heli is a huge task in itself
i would advice u to start with planes or buy a cheap 3ch co-ax heli

If your reason for not buying one is finances, we need to be pretty clear that building one will cost you more than if you bought one of the mass produced ones ! :(  There are economies of scale at work when the small 3channel ones get mass produced, which cannot be matched when you try make a single piece.

The savings in building *planes* comes from substitution of materials, which is extremely hard when it comes to helis. As much as I would like to encourage your intentions, I truly feel we will be misleading you and giving you false hope by suggesting that this is easily achievable.

Please consider buying a simple heli to start with, or even better, start with trying to build a foam plane from plans.

Ritwik - Local stores / malls may carry these at lower rates.  Unfortunately you will have to seek them out yourselves. Note that these are available in many plain department stores, not necessarily RC focused ones.

hi,
i think the best way to start is not a 3ch but a 4ch coaxial because the 3 channel normally have a motor on the tail for forward flight.

This imbalance makes this heli only a good 2 channel, if you try to use the forward flight it goes everywhere

thats is just a very personal advise from me.

ritwik

Thanks for the advice.

anwar

I would have suggested the same, except for concern about the budget.
