Hello,

I got the Hiller 450 V2 from RcBazaar. I earlier had only the 3 ch IR Heli's, so this is my first real heli. Even for a complete lay man like me in the world of Heli's, this is a good start. You learn a lot during the build and everything you need to know is told to you in the build videos by Sujju.

For a beginner who wants to start with the build process, Hiller 450 is the best you can get for two reasons
1) The build videos by Sujju from RcBazaar are detailed to every nut and bolt. It makes the process as smooth as it can be. A big thanks to Sujju and his team.
2) The service from RcBazaar is amazing  {:)}. They stock all the spares and ship them in a giffy. I placed a couple of orders till now and nothing took more than 3 days to reach my doorstep including the day I place my order. (Given I stay in Chennai which is 6 hours from Bangalore, but still that is something)

Now a couple of my observations: (Mostly for beginners and people with bad planning skills like me  :banghead:)
1) Please order the following with your Heli, you WILL for sure end up buying them at some point later during the build.
Pitch Gauge
Swash Leveler
Ball link pliers
Good set of Hex drivers (You need a really good set of hex drivers as the screws are not that great)
Extra set of screws for the entire kit (Comes really handy for someone who does not have a proper work space)
Loctite
CA
Gyro tape/Double sided foam tape (Please check before purchase if your gyro comes with the tape as my gyro did not come with any tape)
Ruler/Scale ( If you do not have a vernier calipers)
2) The next set of items will further help you in your build and make it a lot more fun/easy.
Vernier Calipers
Soldering Iron (Always good to do it ALL by yourself. Only the motor and ESC connectors have to be soldered.)
Spare battery pack
Battery strap
Velcro for battery
Tie wraps

Not writing anything on the build as the videos are everything you need.

Overall, it has been a fun ride. I enjoyed building this heli to the fullest. I am looking forward to some flying time now, have been practicing on the simulator. I am able to hover very easily in the simulator and for long durations without any major disturbances, but all that confidence had gone for a toss  :( when I held the tx with the real heli. I guess I just have to be a little brave  ;D and order a lot of spares too  ;)  :giggle:

hey hi karthik ,since u mentioned watching sujjus vides i dont recollect properly but i think by mistake in the head assembly sujju has mentioned to put the thrust bearing in another order pls correct me if he did mention the very same as this is the right way ..first the bigger inner diameter  thrust washer than thrust bearing ,then smal inner diameter thrust washer ,i think sujju mentioned opposite by mistake ,but if u run it opposite then u will have head issues ,if its mentioned the way i said then ur good to go ,secondy dont use carbon blades for now use glass fiber blades n keep stock loads ull need em lol ..yeah and ull need alot of courage as the spinning blades scare u i know tht feeling .. :giggle: :giggle:

agree with shannon, only later i realized when assembling a 450 pro that my v2 thrust bearing went wrong way after watching finless bob. :)

Probably not very related ... but thought will just mention as this is for a beginner.

One thing i learnt is that once you get into flying a heli, rest everythings seems ... a little boring. That constant focus needed to keep it in air really pulls you in. At start things may look daunting, but just hold on and a year (or sooner for someone with more time and inclination ) down the road, you will love that you selected this vehicle to fly :)
Let's fly!

This is probably the best place to ask. Has anyone used the hex drivers RCB sells? If so, what do you think of them?

What's the difference between the Hiller 450 Beginners CCPM and the 450 V2?

avesh

hiller 450 has a glass construction and the rotor head is  plastic while v2 is all carbon fiber and alloy.

Harish Nagisetty

So, is the construction process same for the V2 and the Beginners' CCPM?

dhruvafreak

Yes . It will be same , just no threadlock for screws going into plastic parts hahaha

I have an another question. I have a non programmable CCPM radio system, can I use that with this heli? And, is there any build manual compatible with this hell?

dhruvafreak

Any more details on the Transmitter ?? Brand/Model ?
Is it 6 channel ?

Art tech E-Fly ETC61. And, yes, it's 6 channel. It's just got no throttle or pitch curve settings.

avesh

Well for a beginner its fine if you neglect throttle settings. By default its linear which i think would be perfect for you.
