Please suggest some nice and cheap CCPM rc heli...
Till now I have never flown a CCPM, only fixed pitch ones...
So I think that I should start with a cheap CCPM, which I can play with(although I know its NOT a toy :D)

Collect money and invest in a good heli like a Trex 450. Check out various sites and u may get a good New years discount.

Havent flown a hiller or build one but stay away from the HK ones. U keep replacing parts on them and most important fact is when ur into sport or 3d u will eventually spend money on getting good electronics. (Budget spikes up).

So why not spend once and get the best. I remember my friend and me waited for as many as six months saving money to get our first Trex 450

as you have never flown a ccpm heli, dont get a trex or similar instead a clone would just be fine. Trex crash would get you a serious $$$. Hillers are fine and better than HK ones.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
I think, for now, I should go for a RTF CCPM...
Has anyone tried the FBL100 from HK?

Please suggest some other CCPMs too... :)

fbl100 would be fine, reviews suggest that it can withstand mild crashes and even inverted. if you are willing to buy get a lot of spares, like main shafts, couple of main blades, no flybar so it is good, main gear, set of screws..

Hi,

Get a Tarot 450 kit. Few people in my field have it. It is a perfect replica of trex 450. Very high quality parts and screws.

If you program your Trex 450 nicely it can be tamed and will be very beginner friendly. Use training gears and start flying in a heli club near you so that other experienced pilots can give their inputs.

But a clone or a cheapo..Then, keep upgrading it and eventually u have spent equivalent to a trex 450.

People here have built and flown hiller. Do read those threads before u take a plunge. A lot of things can be learnt from those threads.

The key to FBL is the programming. Also, read the reviews of the FBL gyro.

Other CCPMs options are: Copterx, EXI, Alzrc.

Check out rc711.com, infinity-hobby and hobby-wing.com for various ccpm options other than align brand

Yes Agree with Doctor....

The most important part of the helis is the screws, even a single bad screw will cause crash ($$$). I have purchased a used HK 450 GT pro heli and its completely useless. Every time i try to fly it, some crash ($$$) and damage, though i have practiced a lot and lot on simulator. After couple of tryings, i have thrown it in dust bin (never flown) and decided to go for a good new one. I could have did it in the beginning itself, i mean i could have purchased the good one.

Thanks

hi ,well dont go in for the turnigy fbl100 yes is i fbl yes it is small and yes it is cheap but not ment for properly learning and at the same time is very agile and the tx does not have any function to tame it down ....get a tarot ,alzrc or hiller trex clone ....they are of good quality and very close to the original trex ...the advantage of getting a clone kit is u can use electronics as per your budget but i do agree with doctor u need to invest once but u can do that with the clone too i do not like the electronics that come with original align they are crap u can build your 450 a basic one will cost around 12k and with good electronics can go upto 25k stay away from anything smaller than a 450 as this is your first ccpm heli ...i had a hiller 450pro and currently flying a hiller 500 the kits are of really good quality no doubt but i purchased electronics from other places of good quality ....if u can tell me what your budget is how much can u push it i can give u a very good setup of electronic and kit that u can purchase your self ...... ohh yes and good electronic setup and kit is important dont buy any hobbyking kits they are crap and dont buy rtf 450 combos ...the build is the frst setup of learning dont miss out on that ....yes and the very important thing in a heli is the tail servo and gyro u need them to be good if u go cheap there you will pull your hair cause of tail drift and wag issues lol  tc

+1 on Shannon...

Tail servo and gyro is the heart of a heli (Pilot is the soul)...

Contact Shannon if ur interested in building ur own electronics combo in a decent budget.

Tarot rudder servo and gyro are quite decent. A fellow flier uses them on his Trex 500 and he is happy with both. Do read other threads bout hiller 450 and also buy any upgrade screw kit also.

rajathv8

Are there upgrade screw kits? Or do you mean standard trex screw set can be used in a clone kit?

Shannon

Yes u can use OG trex screw but all I ever saw they have frame screws as a pack rest screws are only got with the product related like tail or any head component :headscratch:
