Title: An Indian forum focused on trains
Post by: anwar on May 21, 2011, 08:58:13 PM
Wow.. there is an "Indian Railways Train Simulator" forum :o

http://ronaldus.com/asmallworld/irtsforum/index.php

Wonder what this is about... simulating the Indian rail network ?  Or just model trains that are modelled after the ones used by Indian Railways ?

I came across that a long time back (probably in 2006 or 2007). Downloaded some Indian rail models for the Microsoft Train Simulator, works fantastic in it. The main fan club site is www.irfca.org. I am also subscribed to the irfca yahoo group, they are basically ardent Indian railways fan group and they upload some wonderful pics and vids of Indian railways.

I have been the member of irfca.org since some 10yrs when it was in yahoogroups. They do not only post pics and vids of trains. Rather the site is goldmine of information about railways, their working, techincals, history, people, modellers, travelogs and what not.  Their fan profile ranges from curious onlookers to experts in history, engineering, arts, science, trekkers and mountaineers; all looking at railways from their vantage point. Anything happening about railways(perticularly IR) is disseminated across continents in almost real time by large no. of railfans posting in the forum. Although, volume of posts may discourage initially, one would get used to it.
