 Hey,
As you know that i won the sweepstakes under the free flight category.
I was given a discount of 1000 from any rc store and i chose RC Bazaar.
I bought a Pilatus PC-6 Porter. Rc Bazaar is an excellent store. Kudos to all of the staff.
The shipment method nearly killed me: DTDC. It was a hassle
QuotePARCEL LOST : we are sorry
but things got sorted out after they got a phone call from my side with *ahem* a good selection of words. >:D >:D >:D
Now, The PC-6 is an amazing plane itself and so is the kit. :thumbsup:
Ill Post images in the evening and start the build from the 14/15th of March after my Examinations are over.

P.S- Ill also start a thread of a model railroad layout (8'x4')
     For those who are curious; i have a Mehano TGV with extra atlas code 100 track (lots of em')
     And am going to order some locos and cars from either hornby(U.K) or Bacchmann (U.S.A)
Regards from my side

Now. Can anyone advice me on how to cover?
i know that i can use 50:50 fevicol and water.
but how do i cover the fuse?  PS- the fuse is not flat.
I mean that the fuselage is not boxish but cylindricalish ;D
Regards.

@K K Iyer sir,
You wanted some details. What were those?
Regards.

Size of prop and size of rubber.

The trick to get a wrinkle free finish is to cover the fuselage with several separate pieces of tissue, each covering one straight portion. The curved area seems to be only at the front top. This can be done with two pieces.

BTW, the glue/water mix is only for sticking the tissue to the frame. DO NOT paint entire covering with it.

Also DO NOT stick the tissue to each rib. Stick only on perimeter.

After the glue is dry, you have to water shrink the tissue. Only a light fine spray is needed. Too much water will either tear the tissue, or cause so much shrinking that the structure will warp.
Use a Colin bottle to spray. Or dip your toothbrush in water and strum the bristles with your thumb. Try this on a newspaper first for practice.

Once it dries, the tissue will be surprisingly taut.
Now it needs to be doped, i.e. painted with a 50/50 mix of shrinking dope and thinner using a very soft wide paintbrush.
I doubt if you can get dope now. In the 1970s, we used to get it from India's Hobby Centre.
Later we switched to N.C.Clear Lacquer and N.C.thinner from car painters. See if you can find some. You need the smallest tin.
Recently and old aeromodeller friend suggested a bottle of Clear Nail Polish thinned with nail polish remover. Try it. Smells similar to N.C., so probably the same (NC is nitro cellulose).
Do not use enamel or acrylic or PU etc.
You can fly it without doping, but then the tissue will tear easily, and also sag in humid weather.
Best of luck. Post pics of each stage of construction.

Thank you sir.
Will do what you said.
And will get back with what you asked.

@tanmay.mathur,
Typing 'Guillows electric conversion ' in Google gives enough answers.
Here's one:

@prabal276,
Two years passed!
What happened?

Iyer sir,
everything is piled up right now. i have just completed my 11th std.
was not keeping well the whole time. My ear developed some problems and since i want to become a pilot, getting fixed was really important.
In addition to the porter, i have two revell airliner kits pending, two Rc planes pending, one boat pending. further, i have to fix my Chinook as well.
I have picked up one of the RC projects, scout 15 in corroplast again.
All three of my batteries are almost dead and we (family) are saving up as much as we can for my CPL& Type fees so no major expenditures.
i became much more involved in astronomy since coaching did not give me enough time for RC planes. Since i did not want to pursue engineering, i took the plunge and gave up coaching classes. coaching completely ruined my 11th class. So i'm trying to not-messup 12th std.
I will complete the porter a little later (summer). i wish to RC-fy it and have decided to scrap my solar plane for the motor, esc and servos.
Regards

@prabal276

If only I had that kit, I could compare it with my scratch build...

prabal276

sir,
all my builds are halted as of now.
In the middle of 12th std.

@prabal276,
Then my sincere advice is to go off this forum for the next nine months.
Like Gandhiji's bandars, Don't look, don't hear, don't post.
This hobby distracted me enough to make me lose my scholarship, when I was your age.
So Goodbye till around May 2019.
Study hard till then. All the best for JEE or others you attempt...
Regards

Yes sir,
Thats the reason i post so less now.
I log in about once every 2-3 days.
I am preparing for the Indigo Cadet Pilot Program.
