Hi, need some help on model railroading. Am completely new to this genre of modeling and need some basic wiring tips on a shelf layout. What material do I need for the wiring and how to do it. It will be a very small set up with few straight & curved tracks and 2 turnouts...please help..

pradeepdasgupta

Hi Posty
I dont know if RcIndia is the right place to discuss model rr. If it is ok with the modrator, I can help you out on that front. Pl send me details as follows:
1. Your model rr is DC or DCC?
2. HO or any other scale?
2. Do you have a track plan? Can you share it?
3. Layout size?

I am John and I am into model railways for almost a decade now and currently based in Bangalore. I thought it was a good idea for people involved with the model rail hobby to be part of an informal community in Bangalore. This way we can meet a few times in a year, interact with each other, share some ideas, visit each other's layout, have demos and so on. If you are from Bangalore or are visiting Bangalore, please join the Meetup below:

Would love to meet and interact with more model rail enthusiasts!

John, welcome to the forum.

Oliver - Must have missed your query, so sorry for the late reply. Try and get hold of clear lacquer / varnish. Should be available at good hardware stores or artist's supply shops. Either stain it with blue dye and pour it to set over an indentation (to resemble a pond or lake) on the layout. Alternately, you can paint the bottom of the lake or pond hollow light blue and pour in the clear varnish to set. If you so wish, you can (carefully, very carefully) create ripples or waves on it as it sets.

I mailed you about the availability of Bachmann Starter Set but got no response. Do you guys still do business?
If yes kindly respond here. I need to purchase some items from you. Also your website does not work or leads me to inappropriate site.
Kindly provide me with a valid one.

Regards,
Girish

Thanks! I thought it was a 0-3-0 as I couldn't see the front wheels. Then the Shields on the sides of the Smokebox settled the issue.
