Just received this GREAT Diwali gift. At 1:24 scale she is impressive (13" plus main chassis). The model not only replicates all the original movements of the tank and working headlights but also has authentic sound effects that can either be magnified or switched off completely. The main gun fires (sound and mechanical effects) with an impressive recoil action. She is able to clamber over obstacles effortlessly and can climb 45 degree gradients.

What a wonderful toy model. I just got her today and am already in the process of adding details to her superstructure. ;D

The model denotes the 3rd. Gun Tank of the 2nd. Platoon, F Company of the 2nd. Battalion, 3rd. Armored (Armoured) Cavalry.

Video follows soon.

congrats , reviews say there are really nice, makes for a nice working model and looks awesome on the bench.
if it was from hobbyking and 24th scale , they are also mostly sold as vstanks (if u need spares/accessories/info later on).

one underbody shot please. i too have been looking at the t72 and leopard2 a6. any shipping damages worth mentioning?

VC

From what I can see it is the same VS2 Tank with the BB firing mechanism removed. The machine gun and other fittings are not included. This model has a fixed forward and reversing speed as compared to variable speeds on the VS2 tank.  The build is identical in every other respect.

Landed Prices are $ 55 as compared to $ 167 - IMHO, that is a bargain.

i dint know it was available here itself, dats really nice, (i order car bodies which i use in my builts from the same site, damn i missed it).

agree that tower is too much 167//. .

vineet

congrats for the gift , but i cannot stop me saying please use deepawali not diwali.

ps :its a request

VC

The manufacturers, to keep the costs down, did not include a lot of accessories that are available when you buy the VS2 Tank. Most notable amongst them is the  legendary .50 Cal Machine Gun that is mounted ahead of the Commander's Turret. I found them on sale for $19. Too expensive, so I got down to scratch building it.

The usual motley assortment of odds and ends had to be invoked as is visible in the first few photographs. I had to do a lot of research to adhere to the 1:24 Scale.

Hope you all like it.

Vineet, I agree and disagree with you. The British anglicised Deepawali into Diwali, as they simply couldn't pronounce it correctly. Thus, we should actually write Deepawali or Deepavali - however, deepavali or deepawali would be grammatically incorrect. It HAS to be Capitalised.

By the way, I still insist on Calcutta and dislike Kolkata - even though it is my birthplace and my language.

Here is what it looks like now, final painting (gun metal) is yet to be done. I added 2 whip antennas as well.

VC Sir, Still waiting for the videos...!

Ever since I got this baby, I've been wanting to add some detail to it. Wanted to turn a Toy into a Model. That involved a bit of research, imagination, 'jugaad', scavenging and getting my hands dirty after a long break.

First step was the .50 cal machine gun as I have detailed earlier, now for the rest of the stuff;

Materials used are M Seal, Card Strips, Nylon thread, Tic Tac boxes, Spare Bottle cap etc. Paint used was Fevicryl matted with French Chalk / Talcum Powder.

First up a couple of Before and After shots.

Some of the parts constructed. Blue Styrofoam for the 5 gallon Jerry cans. They measure 1" x .75" at 1:24 scale.

Work in progress as I type. I am going to add weathering effects next. That is going to be a tough call. To start off, I have kept the scratch built parts a little down and dirty to add to the overall weathered effect of the tank once she is complete.

A closer look.

As a part of the research, it was interesting to learn the unique names of the different backpacks and tactical assault packs.

Total weight added to the tank is about 100 grams. It still performs the same. Some more detailing yet to be done.Video follows soon.

By the way, camo cloth was wash painted on an old handkerchief then cut and rolled.

The level of detailing you have achieved is worth hundreds of dollars Sir....

You just can take an ordinary tank and make it an extra-ordinary one...!!  :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Epic Scratch building I must Say...  :salute:
