Hey guys,
Iv built up a mig-29 and spent quite some time painting it. Its a static model as the thermocol i used is very weak fragile and low density. My tenant had shipped some household appliances from pune and i decided to put the thermocol to use instead of throwing it away.
Il let the pics do the talking :)
Part 1: Plan and cutting sections.
Part 2: Initial Assembly
Part 3: Assembled mig and stensiling for paint.
Part 4: Painting
Part 5: Final assembly, glueing, touchup paintwork and detailing. My books helped a lot. :) I would suggest Computer Communication Networks By. Fuorouzen. Nice and heavy :D :D :D
Part 6: MIG-29 FULCRUM - C completed :)
All paint work was done using fabric paints with a paint brush - no spray paint.
PS: 22 images take only 1.9 MB of space. Appropriate resizing can help us and keep our server happy :)
Hey stiggy :giggle: Your Mig-29 looks awesome!! How come you've cut out the hole for the prop? Any plans of making the model non static?? ;D
Thanks dude :) I cut it out with the idea of flying it but later realized its too week. :) The opening keeps my options open in the future :D
Iv used the "Mig-29 Strizhi" paint scheme as shown in pics below
Yea.. I guess a little carbon rod here and there should make it flyable :) That Mig-29 Strizhi looks beautiful..
I saw a mig 35 in similar paint scheme at the airshow :) Not the same pattern. It looked and sounded AWESOME!!! So did the su, f-18 and others :D :D
Nice one Rajath. {:)}
I'm sure we will have a Mig in our skies some time soon.. ;)
Looks awesome......the paint scheme is gr8 !!!
it looks great
Thankyou guys :) :) Had to do quite a lot to keep the thermocol balls in check. The entire periphery is taped and painted over the tape. :)
That is one beautiful bird! If nothing else, please allow her to fly as a glider..........
Thanks VC. :)
It looks too good buddy!! too bad it wont be let free in the skies!!
hey bud nice model... I like it. I know thermocoal is not flyable alone as its very delicate.. I would use a very light weight celo tape everywhere to give it strength. You remember the way I did on the piper's wing. transparent wide tape should be good to give it strength and make it little heavy as well. An EDF in the back will give it enough power to cut through skies... lets meet sometime, this weekend was hectic :(
PS. I saw colored celo tapes in vignan nagar.. I will post the review of them soon as I get them tomorrow.
Ya sure. Come and have a look so il know it its flyable. Waiting for my radio- should get it in 20 days.
Thats a cool paint job rajath {:)} {:)} {:)}
@control and sundaramvelar: Thanks guys :):)
Beautiful model man {:)} {:)} {:)} .As others suggested, convert it to rc.It will be awesome to watch it fly.
"Some say,the Stig is an air force pilot for the Russians and that he is an avid modeler." ;D ;D :giggle: :giggle:
Haha thanks bud. Il let vikas have a look and see if i can fly it. :)
BTW,which radio are you planning to get?
Hobbyking 6ch v2. The cheapest i could find :D
oh.But I read that their radios are quite good for beginners
Yeah i read several reviews. Some have issues with the usb cable heating up and burning though. Hope that doesn happen. :) I also checked with a hk6ch user and he was happy with his set so went ahead. Buying it from praveen so no customs problem. Il post up a review once i get it. Will be buying servos and stuff next month or so - sim time till then. :)
USB cable burnt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell. But it runs on 5 volts.
Yeah the controller in the cable is very sensitive and is not fine with even slight voltages above 5. It happened to two or three.
Really nice build and a great paint job. Whenever i try to work with thermocole, my room becomes absolutely messy with thermocole balls all around :banghead:.

Have you ordered your radio from hobbyking? If u have, then u must have also read the potential problems in doing that.
excellent work rajahiv..... Very beautifull....
There is a simple way to get rid of thermocol balls. I used the orange cloth (soft one),to develop static, then the thermocol balls stick to it. Very Easy to clean.
No i ordered it from praveen- its mentioned in reply #28 (see Anwar ji i used the reply number feature :D :D)
Thanks shreedhar :)
trying to read between the lines...lol... :D
