@mehul anand,
In reply #120 you said you're IN.

Still in?
In theory, we can fly to Mars.
In practice, can we do a 30 sec hand launch flight?

If you do, I'll provide proof to MIT that you were the first to do so on this forum.
Talk to your parents. Going to require a lot of determination.
To achieve in India a target achieved abroad over 50 years ago.

For inspiration, pl see posts of 'kiran rc'.
His work so far is far far ahead of youngsters who just talk...

Best wishes

Mehul Anand

Aah, a few like rastsaurabh and glidiator still track this thread...

Glidiator

Yes KK. Am travelling last 10 days but keeping track to see anyone especially the gen next is enthused by the idea of achieving a 1 min glider flight.
It's not a trifling challenge.
Plan to make a seriously good indoor HLG and CLG with flapper wings and see how well I can trim it for a good flight.

@mehul anand,
Doesn't matter if late.
If you can do a 30 sec hand launch unpowered flight (pl read this thread for details),
BY MIDNIGHT of 15th July,
I'll give you a Rs 1000 gift!

Best of luck.

@mehul anand
If you can do it (30 sec), I'm sure Glidiator will give you a similar gift.

Let me raise the stakes.
I'll gift you 5000 if you can do a 1 minute hand launch unpowered flight by midnight 15th July

Show me that 'Make in India' is not just a dream.

Glidiator

Yes KK. Will add to the prize money.
Anyone willing to rise to the challenge??

@Mehul Anand
Also learn 3D. 3D will help you to understand pitch yaw roll.

K K Iyer

This challenge closed at midnight on 1st July.
However, extended to 15th July.
Due to support from glidiator, prize money DOUBLED to Rs 2000 for a 30 sec flight.
For a 1 min flight, my offer of 5000 valid till 15th July.

Taksh,
As is your habit, you have posted a COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT MESSAGE.

Maybe you could talk less and show your ability instead.

I think you are NOT capable of demonstrating a 1 minute hand launch flight, by 15 th July, despite your big talk.
If you can, I will pay you Rs 5000.
If you fail, you can pay me Re 1.
Do you accept this challenge?

Glidiator

Contestants can see if they can find a lucky updraft that can extend the flight  considerably if flying outdoors. Find a rocky patch on a hot afternoon. You may get lucky even if the glider is not too well trimmed.

Well not sure till 15th I am a busy student, I researched about least drag and learnt class 11 kinematics specially projectile motion to help...
Every 1 m drop the glider should go 150 m according to my research launched at 45° (not complete calculation no lift relation and other factors so...)
Chamka ??

Badi badi baaten.
Do you see your words are meaningless?
That you're talking nonsense?
Just like Taksh?

Kar ke dikhao na.
Same offer as I made to Taksh the great.

As I said.
Show me. I'll pay 5000.
Else you pay me Re 1.
Fair enough?

Well I did a breakthrough after only projectile motion calculation the glide ratio turned out to be 47:1 better than 150:1 and I have 29s remaining...
Will very large wing help?? Even with a small fuselage?? (there are 2 questions)
And how will pitch yaw and roll even help with gliders??
Will flaps help and are flaps allawoed rc controlled after reaching maximum height??

Would you consider editing/deleting this post?

@taksh,
Did you try this challenge yourself?
Or just gave gyan to others?

Though the last date is over, I'm extending it to 15th July midnight specially for Mehul Anand and Taksh.
If you succeed, 5000 for a 1 min flight, 1000 for a 30 second flight. Glidiator may add a gift.
If you fail, you have to admit it.

Any posts showing your attempts at 30 sec or 1 min flight are welcome.

Please voluntarily delete your posts which are not related to your own attempts at these targets.

I can see this thread heating up again. And who else can be behind it except our beloved taksh?
I gave this a try with a special paper glider. Got to 12 seconds. Nothing more.
I just got done with my exams and I'm out of balsa wood so can't do the challenge yet.
I have a few planes in mind from the old times. I'll make those planes after I get some good balsa.
Not for the competition or the cash prize but just to see how long it can fly.
