A local photography enthusiast who wanted to get into RC got a Trex 550E 3G flybarless, and I helped him with the initial build and setup yesterday.  This was the first time I had seen the Trex 550E in person, and it is a sweet machine.

Due to his interest in photography (his studio and equipment is top of the line!), he had also ordered the Gaui 330X-S (upgraded version with Scorpion motors, which helps with additional payload), which he gave me to do the initial build and setup  (:|~

I was eyeing this one for some time just to feel how it is, and it is great to have one in person for testing !

First hover video.  Some more tweaking should improve the stability and reduce the "choppiness".

The feeling is that this is too simple !

The GAUI GU-344 does qualify for a very simple yet "does its job well" quad controller.  But it costs over $200, might as well get the DIYDrones one which can do a whole lot more, including UAV stuff with waypoints !

One thing that surprised me was how small it was.  I was expecting it to be much bigger, from the pictures (hadn't seen the dimensions).

With some expo dialed in, and minor tweaks on the throttle curve, it is much more stable and easier to fly, and I am able to fly it through the house (much like a 3 or 4 channel coaxial heli).

What is the orange ball and white strip for? Orientaton?

anwar

Yes, for orientation.  I don't think it provides any crash protection.

BTW, flew it a bit on the field, will upload a video later.

Don't know of anyone selling this in India... there are many places internationally though.  The one shows in this thread was bought by a friend from this place :
