Hello Train experts,
I am a new to model trains and in love with them since childhood.
Instead of buying toy train for kids, I want to scratch build a model train.
This is the setup I have in mind:
Tracks:
Want to scratch build G and O gauge tracks using the rails.
Raw material: Rails - Code 83/100 nickel silver rails.
http://www.micromark.com/code-83-nickel-silver-rail-33-pieces,8744.html (http://www.micromark.com/code-83-nickel-silver-rail-33-pieces,8744.html)
Sleepers - plan to use local wood
Keeping possibility of both gauges in mind, which rails can be used? will code 100 be more suitable?
Any source of buying the metal rails (not ready track sets) in India?
I am ok with any metal right now (steel/aluminum/nickel silver/..) if it is available in India and cheaper.
Not thinking of powered track right now. But good to have it extendable to powered.
Cars and loco:
Plan to build few non powered cars using trucks or wheels and Locomotive in future.
Raw material:
Plan to buy wheel or trucks like http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/bac/bac29905.htm (http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/bac/bac29905.htm) or http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/kad/kad950.htm (http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/kad/kad950.htm)
Metal models appeal more to me. Plan is to build the track that can support metal locomotive/cars. May go with using plastic models on metal track if metal build takes too long.
Your expert guidance and inputs will be valuable..
Thanks..
