My first frame for the micro quad scratch built. Bare weight 3gms.

VC

Well done Sandy. That seems like precision engineering - how did you create that?
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

satyagupta

my question is same as that of VC sir. Frame looks damn good

@VC and Satya Thanks.

Dremel Zindabad.  ;D. Its simple 2.5 mm ply and 2mm carbon square tubes.

I have about 300 Plus bits & fitments for it, from grinding bits, sanding bits, cutting disks, Diamond point bits.  :)

End to End Diagonally it is 130 mm. I can reduce it if I want. The center piece is 12mm more than the controller in both dimensions which I could have made it smaller.

Still pondering over whether to use the paper roll method or similar ply mount for the Motor mount. The ply mount will be rock solid and will keep motors in absolute symmetry but will add weight. Paper tube though less weight will be difficult to maintain symmetry and will not be resilient.

Today  finally I got time to finish my quad.
But it flip on side as soon as take off from ground.
Any suggestions to resolve the flip.

More pics.

Now frame is six grams. All ready for motors.  Whats your thought if the motor is mounted inverted with prop below.

satyagupta

@xtreme_machines :

Motor polarities for 2 motors has to be reversed.

For ex:

1       2
   \    /
    \  /
    /  \
   /    \
3       4

Motors (1, 4) and (2,3) has to rotate in opposite direction.

@Sundaram sir design looks fab

Motor mount using paper.

Step 1. Cut little more than motor circumference
Step 2. Glue to end of the motor
Step 3. Roll around motor and apply some pressure.

To harden the mount we can use a combination of white glue (fevicol) and water in ratio 1 : 2

correct me if i am wrong in terms of ratio.

@Sundaram Sir, mounting the motors USD will damage the props in case of hard landings/crash.

@ Veloci yes agreed. Decided against already.

Mine takes of in half throttle with a 350 mah. Hovers about minute and a half then its on the ground inspite of full throttle for 3 mins. I think the props I am using is not good for the motors. I believe motors are 716 with 20000 RPM max. Props are  marked as H21 its identical to a 2508/ 2510. Whats your take Satya.

satyagupta

Props are good sir, but the 716 motor is not enough powerfull. 716 can lift a max of 32-35 grams of load nothing more. 720 motors or other hand are more powerfull than 716 but than they are costly too :'(

Sir, motor to motor distance? 100mm to 120mm is optimal.

I am sure problem is with the props which I have.

I have motors which are similar to 720, which I have been using with my Micro builds. Both have a marked difference with a 2508 Prop and a Plantraco Props. I don't have a contra rotating in Plantraco prop.

Even in present configuration with 716 it was able to lift off in half throttle only after I had given a twist to the props to increase pitch.

Ordered UDI props from Quadcopters. It should fly well in the present configuration.

satyagupta

If thats the case, do check with the new props when you get it. If you think that previous props had some issues i may get it replaced for you
